Beauty Blog: The Perfect Pink Pout…

Hey y’all!

It’s been quite some time since my last beauty blog! I thought in honor of my favorite makeup product ( lipstick) I thought  would share with you a few of the pink lipsticks I  love.  I did the same thing a few months back with my fav nude, purple and red lips, so I thought I would just round out the series with the pinks!

Now anyone who really knows me, knows I do not like the colour pink. I’m not the conventional “girly girl”. I never wore( or wear lol) pink so naturally I stayed away  from pink lipsticks .  But…. alas the winds of change have led me to despise the colour pink less and less and I have begun to embrace pink… slowly…. a nail polish here, a pink sweater there… and of course a pink lipstick.

The first pink lipstick I purchased was the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade 220 (Showy). I bought this because It was a dupe for the infamous MAC shade “Candy Yum Yum”.  That lipstick came out when I was just getting into lipstick and I just couldn’t fathom ( at the time) spending 20 dollars on a lipstick.. and a pink one at that!(lol) I was able to jump on the good old internet and track down a dupe which is the lipstick I purchased. Here are the pros and cons of this product:

Pros:

  • Very inexpensive ( 6-8 dollars Canadian)
  • Lots of product in the tube
  • A little goes a long way
  • Extremely pigmented

Cons:

  • It has a very “chalky texture
  • The colour stains your lips but the actual product does not last long . You constantly have to reapply.
  • Must be worn with a liner if you are of a darker complexion. Believe me I’ve tried it without and I looked a little crazy!

I like this lipstick well enough but I probably wouldn’t repurchase it!

“Showy”

Next up: Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick in the shade Bauhau5.  A raspberry pink shade that has matte finish.

Pros:

  • Long lasting
  • Extremely pigmented
  • Easy application
  • Lots of product

Cons:

  • A little on the more expensive side( 24 dollars Canadian currency)
  • Can be drying on the lips

I absolutely love this product I wear it any chance I get! So flattering especially on women of color! ( my opinion)

Girl About Town:  The lipstick that made me actually fall in love with a pink lip! This lipstick is a Amplified Creme lipstick. A beautiful fuchsia pink lippie with a blue undertone. This is a definite repurchase!

Pros:

  • Very pigmented
  • Creamy consistency
  • Long lasting
  •  Wearable during the day and the night

Cons:

  • Price: about 20 dollars Canadian

Flat Out Fabulous: My all time favorite pink lipstick of all time! I wear this lipstick all time! I reach for this lipstick so often that I always have one in my  makeup case as a back up! This is part of MAC’s Retro Matte Collection.

Pros:

  • Super pigmented
  • Can really modify to suit your needs with a plethora of  different liners ( ie: Chestnut, Vino or Nightmoth from the MAC brand)
  • Flattering on all skin tones ( my opinion)
  • Easy to apply. One coat gives complete coverage.

Cons:

  • Super drying
  • Price ( 20 dollars Canadian)
  •  Has a tendency to smear/fade over the course of the day

I have one more pink that I have yet to explore. Mac Captive. Let me try it out and I’ll keep you updated!

What pink lipsticks do you guys use? Which ones should I try? Let me know!

Till next time!

xoxo
