Holiday Glam…

Holiday Glam…

Hey guys!

Here is a makeup look I have been gravitating to this holiday season! ( please excuse my eyebrow… I didn’t realize I had smudged it LOL)  P.S I am not a makeup artist, no desire to be one lol( I just like playing around with cool products 🙂

*******

First, I prepped and primed my skin. I used the Hangover Rx Replenishing Primer all over my face with the exception of my t-zone. For my t– zone ( forehead, nose and chin) I used the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. I have combination skin that leans more to the oily side so the primer mixing helps to keep my oils controlled.

Hangover Rx Replenishing Primer: $45.00 ( 1.35 fl oz)
Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector: $28.00 ( mini size)

I followed up with the Too Faced Comfort Matte Foundation in the shade Cocoa. This is a medium coverage foundation which is what I prefer these days. Not too heavy on the skin and leaves the skin looking dewy.

Hangover Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation: Normally $48.00 but currently on the Sephora website for $38.50!

Next, I concealed some trouble spots with my Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer in the shade 470. This helped to cover up any blemishes the medium coverage foundation may have missed. This is my favourite concealer at the moment! So creamy, moveable and a little goes a long way.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer: $35.00

On my eyebrows, I used an Essence eyebrow pencil in the shade brown. Easy to use and to create a soft natural-looking brow. I found this at my local Shoppers Drug Mart.

Essence Eyebrow Pencil: $2.49

On my eyes, I used a combination of two palettes. The Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay and the Morphe 15d Day Slayer Artistry Palette. I honestly mixed and matched different colours. I don’t remember what I used but I wanted bold rosy colours to offset my red dress.

Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay: $68.00
Morphe 15d Day Slayer Artistry Palette:  This was a  limited edition palette but I believe I got it for around $25.00

To line my eyes this day, I used the Sephora Collection Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Black lace, which is a matte black liner.

Sephora Collection Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner: $16.00

For mascara, I just used the Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara in the shade Glam Black.

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara: $6.00 at Walmart.

On my lips, I used the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita and Lined my lips with MAC’s Chestnut lip liner.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: $26.50
MAC’s Chestnut lip liner: $22.00

Finally, to set my face I used the Too Faced Mattifying Setting Spray.  Love how this spray works with this foundation but nothing beats my tried and true MAC Fix+ 🙂

Too Faced Mattifying Setting Spray.  $20.00 ( mini size)

Style Sunday: Fashion Nova X Bridal Party…

Hey y’all!

Now if you guys have been following me for awhile, you know I have been a  million and   one bridal parties. If you’ve ever been in one you know it’s usually accompanied by visits to a bridal salon to try on a number of dresses. However, in this last wedding I was a participant in, the brides vision was easily captured by a dress she found on the popular  clothing website Fashion Nova.

Now I must admit, I was a little nervous about : 1: Ordering a dress online that I had never seen in person and 2. Ordering a fancy dress from Fashion Nova  with whom I was more familiar with their night wear and jeans.

I was absolutely pleasantly surprised! Here’s the dress we wore: ( not in this colour of course )

Captivate The Night Ruffle Gown - Ivory

This was a very popular dress this summer it appears as my size was sold out immediately. I usually wear a US size 10-12( depending on the style of dress and fabric) In this dress based on the size chart, I would fit comfortably in a Medium or a Large with slight alterations.  I needed up having to get a 1X and getting it custom altered to fit me body. Once that was done I was in LOVE with it!

This dress has no zippers or buttons that can often be troublesome in bridal wear. I literally stepped into it and shimmied it up and I was ready to go. This dress is made from 95% Polyester material and 5% spandex. The spandex really makes this piece comfortable to wear, especially if you have to wear it all day. The ruffles on this dress are absolutely perfect to camouflage any trouble areas you may feel you have. ( I know my tummy is a little rounder than I like these days lol! So the ruffles were perfect for me)  Although this dress is an off the shoulder style, it sits so lovely on the shoulders without slipping.

The colour of this wedding was purple, so we got this dress in a rich violet colour. Here is how it looked on me:

3FDB39BD-4FE4-404E-A143-68B910EF7EAD

We paired this dress with beautiful rose gold sparkly block heels. This shoes were lace up, open toed with a lucite front strap. I couldn’t find the exact ones on the Fashion Nova website, but here are some ones that I like as well and would pair with this dress as well in the same price point:

Precious Heeled Sandal - Rose Gold

Would I suggest looking at Fashion Nova for special occasion dresses? Yes absolutely! This dress retailed for $92.71 Canadian and these shoes in particular retailed for $ 39.73 which gave me this whole bridal look for $132.44 Canadian! That’s remarkable ! I will post the links to these products down below.

Are They Worth The Hype: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Products…

Are They Worth The Hype: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Products…

Hey y’all,

I’m back again with another product review. I’m still on the search for some products to create a new skincare regime and so, I decided to try out the Clean and Clear Morning Burst products to see how my skin would react to them.

Let’s get to it!

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Facial Cleanser:

THE PACKAGING:

The packaging is what actually caught my eye initially. I was drawn to the teal packaging.  ( I seem to have a thing for teal packaging lol)  I also really liked seeing the little bursting beads. The packaging is efficient as it has a large pump at the top that easily distributes the product with little to no mess.

THE PRODUCT:

I actually really enjoyed this product much more than I anticipated. It has a very fresh scent of cucumber and green mango extract which provides a very appealing scent for first thing in the morning. The bursting beads provided a good cleanse which aided in getting all the previous nights impurities off of my face. Yet, it wasn’t too harsh. A little bit of this product certainly went a long way.

RESULTS ON MY SKIN:

After using this product for about a month, I can’t honestly say that it did much for oil control or blemishes. However, this product is not specifically geared to combat these two things.  I will say, it has left my skin extremely clean and refreshed. It did not strip my face of its natural oils but did remove some of the excess oil temporarily.

COST:

This is a very cost-effective product.  A 235 ml bottle of this product retails for $6.97 (Canadian Dollars) at our local Walmart.

IS IT WORTH THE HYPE:

Absolutely! I would definitely repurchase this product again and again.

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Oil-Free Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

THE PACKAGING:

The packaging is very similar to that of the cleanser, What I really like about this is that with it being only 94 ml, it is small enough to throw in your purse if you need to reapply and is the perfect travel size.

THE PRODUCT:

I love this product! It is very reminiscent of the Tatcha Water Cream moisturizer. The very light gel-like texture provided the perfect amount of moisture and hydration to my skin. The only thing that I don’t care for is that it can feel a bit tacky on the skin once it is completely absorbed

RESULTS ON MY SKIN:

My skin absolutely loves this product. I find that my skin is much more supple as a result of using this product each morning. This product literally keeps my skin. hydrated all day long without adding too much oil in my t-zone.

COST:

This product is very cost-effective. An 84 ml tube of this cream will only cost you $6.97 (Canadian currency)

IS IT WORTH THE HYPE:

Absolutely. This is probably one of my all-time favourite moisturizers.

Stay tuned to my ongoing hunt for affordable skincare products that work for me!

Style Sunday: Black Lace and Ripped Denim…

Style Sunday: Black Lace and Ripped Denim…

Hey y’all!

Happy Sunday!

So yesterday, I had the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of one of my homegirls. We went out to eat at this really nice, hipster restaurant in the downtown core of my city. We had plans to go down by the water and get some ice cream and hang out after dinner, so I wanted an outfit that was chic yet functional!

Here’s what I wore: IMG_5931

Ripped Denim:
I purchased these jeans from Old Navy a few years back. They are from the Rockstar line. These are absolutely my favourite jeans because they are so comfortable. They are high-waisted which is perfect for us ladies with a smaller waistline but thicker thighs and posterior! (lol)

Lace Top:
This “top” was actually a dress! I purchased this from H&M years ago but never had the opportunity to wear it because the dress insert underneath the lace was way too short for my comfort level. So I macgyvered a top out of it by simply cutting the dress out and placing a plain black spaghetti strap tank top underneath instead.  I really liked the detail in the patterning of the lace which is why I didn’t want to get rid of it!

Shoes:
Honestly, I love high heels, but these low block heels are honestly my favourite shoes in all the earth (lol) I know I’m being dramatic but these little heels are the most comfortable shoes I have ever purchased.  I purchased them from Rainbow for only $12.99! Best money I have ever spent! I wear these heels with everything.

My jewellery was the same old things! My nameplate necklace, my Gold chain with cross and baby ring on it, my Pandora bracelet and a pair of gold hoops! ( so basic I know lol)

It’s super hot where I live right now ( FINALLY) but that usually means I wear minimal makeup during the summer season.

Here’s what I wore on my face:
Face: Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation+Concealer in the shade ” Truffle” Set my face with Ben Nye Powder in the shade ” Cocoa”
Lips: MAC Retro Matee Liquid Lipstick  in the Shade “Oh Lady”
Eyes: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner and Maybelline Colossal Mascara.

That’s all for today folks!

Remember…

Are They Worth The Hype: Tatcha Water Cream and Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser

Are They Worth The Hype: Tatcha Water Cream and Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser

Hey y’all!

It’s been quite some time since I tried any new skin care products. Over the past few months, my general health has been going through some changes ( nothing too serious so don’t be alarmed 🙂 ) and as a result of that my skin has been going through it y’ all! I have been blessed to have had overall good skin throughout my life. Barely a blemish… EVER! Until recently my face has been experiencing said blemishes, dullness and is just overall BLAH. So, I  decided to test a few different products out to try and figure out a new routine to get my skin back on track- starting with these two Tatcha products.

Now, these products ARE NOT products I would ever purchase on my own simply because of the price. But the Sephora VIB sale and the travel sizes of these two products made this possible(LOL) so thank you Sephora! Let’s get to reviewing!

 Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser:

This is a gel cleanser product which is ( as I’ve been told) great for the oily /combination skin that I have.

The Packaging:

The soft teal colour of the packaging is appealing to the eye. What I don’t care for in this product’s container, is that I’m not a huge fan of the squeeze bottle top. The hole is so small that you have to give it a good squeeze to get the product out and some times too much product comes out.

The Product:

I absolutely love how much of a gentle exfoliant this product is! You most definitely can feel it breaking down the debris on your skin but it isn’t harsh. It also leaves your skin feeling ever so soft.  A little bit of this product goes a long way. It has a light, fresh and fruity scent that is very appealing to my nose!

Results on my skin:

I used this product for about 2 weeks consistently on my skin and honestly, I didn’t notice that huge of a difference on my skin except I  did notice that I was slightly less oily.

Cost:

A 5 oz bottle of this product will run you… $49.00 ( Canadian Currency) Yikes…

Is it Worth The Hype:

No. And the price of this product solidifies this for me

Tatcha - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL Clean at Sephora

Tatcha Water Cream

So many beauty influencers swear by this cream so I decided to give it try! I truly wanted to know what all the hype was about…

The Packaging:

Once again the teal packaging with gold accents was really appealing to the eye. I liked that this cream came in jar form. It really allowed for the careful distribution of the product.

The Product:

The thin water like texture was very appealing to me. A small amount of the product was able to effectively moisturize my entire face without adding excess oil to my skin.

Results on my skin:

Ok, I loved this product! While I have combination skin with the majority of oils settling on my t-zone, my skin still had the ability to look dull and sallow.  This product really helped bring life back to my skin! I felt comfortable enough to go bare-faced after a few weeks of consistent use.

Cost: A 1.70z jar of this will cost you $89.00 ( Canadian) YIKES!

Is it Worth The Hype:

Yes! I love how it worked for my skin. However, the price point certainly kept me on the hunt for products that are more cost effective. (stayed tuned)

Tatcha - The Water Cream 1.7 oz/ 50 mL Clean at Sephora

I was able to purchase the travel sized duo of these products for only $33.00( Canadian) at my local Sephora.

Style Sunday: Favourite Outfits I Wore In Panama…

Hey Y’all,

I recently visited Panama, Central America with my “framily” ( Friends+family= framily). Beautiful country! Absolutely gorgeous weather! The perfect combination to help inspire bright and cheerful wardrobe choices. Here are some of my favourite pieces that I wore during my stay:

IMG_2727

Floral Dress: A store in Toronto called “Katie” about 10 years ago. ( not sure if this store still exists)
Flip Flops:  Old Navy dollar sale!

IMG_2699

Two Piece Co-ord: Urban Behaviour
White Tee: Urban Behaviour
Rocawear Gladiator strappy sandals: I purchased somewhere in California ( probably Westfield Culver City) at least 12 years ago
Fanny Pack: My sisters closet (lol)

IMG_2871

Two Piece Skirt and crop top: Boohoo.com
Black strappy sandals: Spring Shoes
Fanny Pack: my lil sisters closet 🙂
This outfit was a big stretch for me! I’m not one to show much midriff unless I’m in a bathing suit. 🙂  But this set I was able to modify so it was modest and a little risky at the same time.:) Two thunbs up for high waisted pencil skirts!

IMG_2979

Yellow Dress: Forever 21
Brown Strappy sandals: Urban Behaviour I believe
Fanny Pack: ( see above)

That’s all folks! I’m preparing for another quick trip to somewhere sunny in a few days! Stay tuned to find out where I’m going and what I’ll be wearing 🙂
