It’s been awhile since I posted a Style Sunday post because honestly my fall/winter outfits this season have been pretty basic ! (lol) Here are two outfits I liked enough to share with you! These outfits feature some colour blocking and some mixed textures. Enjoy!
Olive Green and Burgundy Colour Blocking
Olive Green Skirt: Forever 21
White T-shirt: Forever 21
Burgundy Cardigan: Dynamite
Nude Pumps: Forever 21
Not a colour combination I have ever explored before but I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! I kept my jewelry very minimal ( as I have as of late) with my nameplate necklace and some gold and pearl dangly earrings !
Grey Knit Skirt and a Yellow Sweater
Mustard Yellow Top: Forever 21
Grey Knit Skirt: Joe Fresh
Grey Shoes: Sirens ( I think) they are over 15 years old!
This was a very warm and cozy outfit. Perfect for a Canadian winter’s day! Again, for jewlery I kept it simple with just my nameplate necklace. As well I kept my makeup very neutral.
That’s it for today folks!
Have a stylish Sunday and remember…
Quick style post today. Just wanted to quickly share this fall outfit I threw together today. It is COLD here where I live and I needed an outfit that was functional, warm and comfortable as I needed to wear it to church and to an event today.
Let’s start with the pants. I found them at Forever 21 ( surprise surprise lol) These pants are a polyester blend, high waisted pant. Extremely comfortable and warm. These pants were a little on the pricey side for me ( y’all know I’m a bargain shopper) at $24.90 but I do believe these will be a staple piece in my fall wardrobe so I’m sure I’ll get my money’s worth! 🙂
I paired the pants with a white cold shoulder blouse that I believe I purchased at a store called Sirens a year or so ago. I can’t remember what the retail price was but I do believe it was between $10-$15 dollars.
To finish off the look, I added a Burgundy felt hat and camel colour tie -up mule shoes, both from Aldo Shoes.
To keep me warm, I wore my dark camel coloured double breasted pea coat. I purchased this coat from H&M and it retails for $69.99. This is one item I didn’t mind spending a little more on as it is an everyday piece.
I kept my makeup simple nude lips( Kat Von D “Sanctuary”), Naked Heat Palette (shades “Ember” “Scorched” and “Low Blow”) on my eyes with my Fenty Beauty black eyeliner. (Flyliner) I set my face with Ben Nye Powder in the shade “Chestnut” and that’s it!
I’m liking the 70’s inspired pieces that are coming out this season! I must admit I wasn’t feeling it at first, but once I took some time to put some pieces together, I’m finally feeling a vibe! Looking forward to sharing some more pieces with you in the coming weeks!
What is your fall style leaning towards this year? I think I’m gonna be hobo chic 🙂
This summer I had a few weddings to attend- one of which being one of my best friends wedding. She didn’t have traditional bridesmaids, just her sister, which gave me an opportunity to show up and support her in style!
Our collective group of friends wanted to show up in solidarity and kind of have a collective theme with our outfits. But with us living all over North America ( Canada, NYC, Alabama, Florida) it would virtually be impossible to colour co-ordinate – so we decided on black. We would all be able to pick a dress in our own style and not worry about shades being off. 🙂
I had originally had wanted to get a dress made but my seamstress had an emergency that put that option on hold. So there began the STRUGGLE of trying to find a dress to fit the vision I had for myself.
Finally, it was the last store I went into, Le Chateau, that I found the perfect dress for me. Here it is:
It looks pretty simple at first glance, but here are the details about the dress and how I styled it:
This dress is an off the shoulder lace gown that boasts a stunning front slit. The bodice underneath is a polyester/ spandex mix which made it super comfortable. (click link)
I kept my jewelry to a minimum. Just some feather earrings with gold hardware detailing. I purchased these at Forever 21. I added a simple silver ring and that was it for jewelry.
I got a little fun with my shoes and bag. I found this cute clear bag with Asian inspired insert also at Forever 21. It’s a couple of years old so I couldn’t find a link for it.
My shoes I found them randomly on a last minute trip to the mall at the store Call it Spring. They were bright and colourful and just the right splash of colour to make my black dress pop. These shoes retailed for $64.99 Canadian Dollars ( clink link)
I kept my nails neutral and was blessed to have my face SLAYED by the one and only Nikki Arthur from eminent allure beauty 🙂 She’s done my face for several events and I would absolutely recommend her for your needs if you are ever in the GTA ( Greater Toronto Area) Instagram:@eminentallure
There you have it. The final look!
And my girls slayed as well…. WAKANDA FOREVER LOL
Have an amazingly stylish Sunday!
Till Next Time remember…
Now that the winter is over and the beautiful weather is here where I live, it’s time to bring back this series. Clothing is just so much more fun when it’s not hidden under mountains of layers!
The dress I’m featuring today is a dress I bought to wear to a wedding. As usual, I waited to the very last minute to find a dress… and of course just my luck I was having the hardest time. The wedding was a simple and elegant garden ceremony, so I needed a dress to reflect that. I also was singing at this wedding, so I especially wanted something functional and not intrusive.
Enter, the Lavender dress. Purple is my favourite colour but I don’t usually gravitate towards it in the lighter hue. However, when I saw this dress on the rack, I just had to try it on; and plus the price was RIGHT ( LOL :))
The dress has 3/4 length sleeves and is knee length with a ruffled hem. Now this dress came with a belt, but I got rid of it as I found it looked a little juvenile and made the dress a little more casual than I would have liked . Here it is down below:
Instead for a little more mature flare, I paired this dress with nude open toe heeled sandals with gold embellishments. I wore extremely bold earrings in the same lavender hued fringe and gold metal hardware that I found at Forever 21, as well as a plain gold chain choker necklace.
Makeup Details: Face:
Nars Foundation in the shade “Khartoum”
Nars Concealer in the shade “Truffle” Eyes: Mac Loose Pigment in the shade “Rich Purple” as well as the NAKED Heat palette in in the shades ” Ashes” and “Low Blow”
Sephora Collection 12 Hr wear eye liner In the shade “Matte Black”. ( this is a liquid liner) Lips:
MAC lip liner in the shade ” Chestnut” with Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. in the colour ” L.U.V”
Quick post today! I found this dress on the sale rack at Zara a few weeks back. When I saw it instantly reminded me of Joseph and his coat of many colours! It has so many of the things that I love; colour, sequins and sparkle!
This dress is not available on the Zara website anymore but I was able to snag this dress for only $15.00 ( Canadian) when it originally retailed for $68! I think thats a steal!
Its winter where I live so I styled this dress today with black shiny leggings and little suede booties form Old Navy. I added a simple pair of gold hoops and a watch .
My makeup was also kept very simple as the dress needed know help to stand out! Just black eyeliner ( Sephora 12 hr ), mascara( Benefit It’s Real) and a nude lip ( Kat Von D Sanctuary)
I can’t wait for summer to style this on its own or even with some denim cut off shorts or something… we’ll see 🙂
Fall has arrived here in Canada and has brought its brisk and chilly temperatures with it! This means that I needed to do a much needed inventory of my closets. Lately, I’ve been trying to minimize my closet which got me to thinking about what I considered to be my most essential Fall fashion must haves! I thought I’d share what I’d be reaching for the most this season!
Black Leggings: These are my most reached for item! So comfortable and are easily styled so many different ways. I have been reaching for pairs from Garage Clothing and ones from Aritzia
2. Oversized Denim Jacket : I found one in New York a last month and have been obsessed ever since! When it’s not freezing enough for a puffy coat or jacket, I just reach for this jacket. Here’s a link to a similar one
3. Blanket Scarves: These are the perfect things to add to any outfit. Practical and fashionable. Most of mine, I actually thrifted from my moms closet! The others I have found from places like Forever 21, Ardene and Garage Clothing, to name a few. Here’s a link to one you may like.
4. Chunky Heeled Booties: Comfort is key for me this season, which is why I constantly reach for a more thick heeled shoe. I have been loving this pair from Old Navy. I loved them so much I picked them up in black and olive green! Old Navy comes in clutch with the 40% off and super cash! I managed to pick these up for $23.00 each!
5. Cold Shoulder Tops/ Sweaters: There is something really appealing to me about an open shoulder! A tasteful way to show some skin especially in the workplace (lol) Here is a link to a style I have been loving.
6. Loafers: I have been loving loafers lately. Call me a granny ,but these are some comfortable and practical shoes and they are coming out with some styles that are pretty fashionable these days. Last year I picked up two pairs of velvet loafers from forever 21 on the sale rack for… wait for it… $6.00 a piece!! Hooray for clearance shopping! Those are no longer in stock so here is a link to similar ones.
That’s it for today folks! Have a wonderfully stylish week!!
Today’s style post features pearls and polka dots! Keep reading to see how I styled these two elements…
Today I was feeling very ladylike! I was up early this morning catching up on “Coronation Street” ( a British soap opera.. don’t laugh at me LOL) and one of the episodes featured a scene with some ladies dressed up having tea! So that inspired my style for today, and what better way to channel your inner lady, than to throw on a fabulous set of pearls!
The pearls I chose were gifted to me in a set ( earrings and a necklace completed the set) by my dear friend as a bridesmaid gift ( Thanks Tova!) The pearls are freshwater pearls, in. a beautiful pearl white shade. Truly timeless pieces and I absolutely love them.
I paired the pearls with these fabulous black and white polka dot shoes that I took from my godmother years ago! We were hanging out in her room and I saw these in her closet, and knew I had to have them! Thanks Sis, G 🙂 . This shoe has a 4 inch silver stiletto heel and a pointed toe which just puts this pair of shoes in a league of its own.
I wanted to keep my outfit itself simple so that the shoes and pearls could stand out on their own! So I chose a black peplum top and a black pencil skirt. The skirt is from Forever 21 and the shirt is so ancient , I couldn’t remember where I got it if I tried! Here’s a link to a similar top: https://www.polyvore.com/river_island_black_peplum_top/thing?id=56819176
I kept my makeup fresh faced with eyeliner( Maybelline unstoppable), Concealer (Clinique) Lips ( currant lip liner and sanctuary by Kat Von D) and Powder ( Mac NW55)
That’s it folks! Have a fabulously stylish week and remember ….
