I’m back again with another beauty blog! Awhile ago , I did a post on my favorite red lipsticks. I figured I would continue the trend with my other lipsticks focusing on my purple, pink and nude shades of lipsticks. Today, lets focus on the purples.

While going through my collection of lipsticks and compiling my purple ones, I realized that I might have an obsession with purple lipsticks! I have 8 of them in total. 6 of them are from MAC, 1 from Stila and 1 from the Kat Von D line. So lets jump right in an discuss them.

Let’s start with the MAC shades: Rebel, Up the Amp, Heroine, Men Love Mystery, Smoked Purple, and Cyber.

Rebel: This was one of my first MAC lipsticks and my very first purple shade. This lipstick is purple with a red undertone. It has a satin finish that dries semi matte. It’s a shade I usually wear as a stand alone but it can be paired with a lip liner like MAC’s Currant. This is a shade I reach for more in the fall season.

Heroine: I LOVE this lipstick! It’s probably in my top five favorite lip products ever! I reach for this lipstick at least once a week (lol) It’s a vibrant purple shade. I usually pair this with Currant , Chestnut or Nightmoth Lip liners from MAC. It is a retro matte formula so it is super drying ( similar to the effects of Ruby Woo) but that can be rectified with properly moisturized lips and a lip primer.

Up the Amp: Love this shade. It’s the  purple I tend to reach for the most in the springtime. Its an amplified creme finish. Super pigmented. I wear this with Chestnut lip liner religiously. I particularly love this one because it has a pink undertone, which I find to be extremely flattering on those who are of a darker complexion like me.

Men Love Mystery: Pretty similar to Up the Amp but this is a matte formula. It’s actually a pretty close dupe to MAC’s RIRI Boy lipstick that was a limited edition release. Chestnut lip liner is my go to for this lipstick. I like it well enough but Up the Amp still reigns supreme for me 🙂

Smoked Purple: The perfect vampy purple. I must admit I was a little timid about trying this shade. But boy oh boy when I did …. sold! I like to line and fill in my lips with Nightmoth lip liner before applying it. It is a matte formula so it is another super drying lippie. One of my favorite lipsticks to pull out in the winter season or one a day I’m going for a Gothic glam look 🙂

Cyber: Cyber is essentially Smoked Purple with a different finish and maybe a tad bit darker. While Smoked Purple is a matte finish, Cyber is a satin finish. This is my least favorite lipstick in my purple collection and I probably wont ever repurchase.

On to the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick purple that I have in the shade Como. It’s from the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Summer Collection. I LOVE this shade. It’s like a mash-up of all my favorite purples in a super long-lasting formula. Truly, it’s very similar to Heroine. I really need to repurchase this one because I have been using it allllllllll summer long so far. I love the packaging, the formula just everything about it!

Last but not least, Kat Von D’s L.UV from her Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line. Super drying formula, but this lipstick is truly ever lasting! I could eat, drink, skydive and this lipstick is not going anywhere! Another lipstick that is very similar to Heroine.

If I had to pick a favorite lipstick out of these ones it would be too hard! I love them all for different reasons. If I had to narrow it down,  I would have to choose Heroine with Como as a close second. Como is a pretty similar in shade but I love the long-lasting durability of the formula for those days that I don’t necessarily have time to touch up my lipstick.
