Holiday Glam…

Holiday Glam…

Hey guys!

Here is a makeup look I have been gravitating to this holiday season! ( please excuse my eyebrow… I didn’t realize I had smudged it LOL)  P.S I am not a makeup artist, no desire to be one lol( I just like playing around with cool products 🙂

*******

First, I prepped and primed my skin. I used the Hangover Rx Replenishing Primer all over my face with the exception of my t-zone. For my t– zone ( forehead, nose and chin) I used the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. I have combination skin that leans more to the oily side so the primer mixing helps to keep my oils controlled.

Hangover Rx Replenishing Primer: $45.00 ( 1.35 fl oz)
Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector: $28.00 ( mini size)

I followed up with the Too Faced Comfort Matte Foundation in the shade Cocoa. This is a medium coverage foundation which is what I prefer these days. Not too heavy on the skin and leaves the skin looking dewy.

Hangover Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation: Normally $48.00 but currently on the Sephora website for $38.50!

Next, I concealed some trouble spots with my Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer in the shade 470. This helped to cover up any blemishes the medium coverage foundation may have missed. This is my favourite concealer at the moment! So creamy, moveable and a little goes a long way.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer: $35.00

On my eyebrows, I used an Essence eyebrow pencil in the shade brown. Easy to use and to create a soft natural-looking brow. I found this at my local Shoppers Drug Mart.

Essence Eyebrow Pencil: $2.49

On my eyes, I used a combination of two palettes. The Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay and the Morphe 15d Day Slayer Artistry Palette. I honestly mixed and matched different colours. I don’t remember what I used but I wanted bold rosy colours to offset my red dress.

Naked Heat Palette by Urban Decay: $68.00
Morphe 15d Day Slayer Artistry Palette:  This was a  limited edition palette but I believe I got it for around $25.00

To line my eyes this day, I used the Sephora Collection Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Black lace, which is a matte black liner.

Sephora Collection Colorful Waterproof Eyeliner: $16.00

For mascara, I just used the Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara in the shade Glam Black.

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara: $6.00 at Walmart.

On my lips, I used the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita and Lined my lips with MAC’s Chestnut lip liner.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: $26.50
MAC’s Chestnut lip liner: $22.00

Finally, to set my face I used the Too Faced Mattifying Setting Spray.  Love how this spray works with this foundation but nothing beats my tried and true MAC Fix+ 🙂

Too Faced Mattifying Setting Spray.  $20.00 ( mini size)

Are They Worth The Hype: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Products…

Are They Worth The Hype: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Products…

Hey y’all,

I’m back again with another product review. I’m still on the search for some products to create a new skincare regime and so, I decided to try out the Clean and Clear Morning Burst products to see how my skin would react to them.

Let’s get to it!

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Facial Cleanser:

THE PACKAGING:

The packaging is what actually caught my eye initially. I was drawn to the teal packaging.  ( I seem to have a thing for teal packaging lol)  I also really liked seeing the little bursting beads. The packaging is efficient as it has a large pump at the top that easily distributes the product with little to no mess.

THE PRODUCT:

I actually really enjoyed this product much more than I anticipated. It has a very fresh scent of cucumber and green mango extract which provides a very appealing scent for first thing in the morning. The bursting beads provided a good cleanse which aided in getting all the previous nights impurities off of my face. Yet, it wasn’t too harsh. A little bit of this product certainly went a long way.

RESULTS ON MY SKIN:

After using this product for about a month, I can’t honestly say that it did much for oil control or blemishes. However, this product is not specifically geared to combat these two things.  I will say, it has left my skin extremely clean and refreshed. It did not strip my face of its natural oils but did remove some of the excess oil temporarily.

COST:

This is a very cost-effective product.  A 235 ml bottle of this product retails for $6.97 (Canadian Dollars) at our local Walmart.

IS IT WORTH THE HYPE:

Absolutely! I would definitely repurchase this product again and again.

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Oil-Free Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

THE PACKAGING:

The packaging is very similar to that of the cleanser, What I really like about this is that with it being only 94 ml, it is small enough to throw in your purse if you need to reapply and is the perfect travel size.

THE PRODUCT:

I love this product! It is very reminiscent of the Tatcha Water Cream moisturizer. The very light gel-like texture provided the perfect amount of moisture and hydration to my skin. The only thing that I don’t care for is that it can feel a bit tacky on the skin once it is completely absorbed

RESULTS ON MY SKIN:

My skin absolutely loves this product. I find that my skin is much more supple as a result of using this product each morning. This product literally keeps my skin. hydrated all day long without adding too much oil in my t-zone.

COST:

This product is very cost-effective. An 84 ml tube of this cream will only cost you $6.97 (Canadian currency)

IS IT WORTH THE HYPE:

Absolutely. This is probably one of my all-time favourite moisturizers.

Stay tuned to my ongoing hunt for affordable skincare products that work for me!

Till next time!

Are They Worth The Hype: Tatcha Water Cream and Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser

Are They Worth The Hype: Tatcha Water Cream and Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser

Hey y’all!

It’s been quite some time since I tried any new skin care products. Over the past few months, my general health has been going through some changes ( nothing too serious so don’t be alarmed 🙂 ) and as a result of that my skin has been going through it y’ all! I have been blessed to have had overall good skin throughout my life. Barely a blemish… EVER! Until recently my face has been experiencing said blemishes, dullness and is just overall BLAH. So, I  decided to test a few different products out to try and figure out a new routine to get my skin back on track- starting with these two Tatcha products.

Now, these products ARE NOT products I would ever purchase on my own simply because of the price. But the Sephora VIB sale and the travel sizes of these two products made this possible(LOL) so thank you Sephora! Let’s get to reviewing!

 Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser:

This is a gel cleanser product which is ( as I’ve been told) great for the oily /combination skin that I have.

The Packaging:

The soft teal colour of the packaging is appealing to the eye. What I don’t care for in this product’s container, is that I’m not a huge fan of the squeeze bottle top. The hole is so small that you have to give it a good squeeze to get the product out and some times too much product comes out.

The Product:

I absolutely love how much of a gentle exfoliant this product is! You most definitely can feel it breaking down the debris on your skin but it isn’t harsh. It also leaves your skin feeling ever so soft.  A little bit of this product goes a long way. It has a light, fresh and fruity scent that is very appealing to my nose!

Results on my skin:

I used this product for about 2 weeks consistently on my skin and honestly, I didn’t notice that huge of a difference on my skin except I  did notice that I was slightly less oily.

Cost:

A 5 oz bottle of this product will run you… $49.00 ( Canadian Currency) Yikes…

Is it Worth The Hype:

No. And the price of this product solidifies this for me

Tatcha - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL Clean at Sephora

Tatcha Water Cream

So many beauty influencers swear by this cream so I decided to give it try! I truly wanted to know what all the hype was about…

The Packaging:

Once again the teal packaging with gold accents was really appealing to the eye. I liked that this cream came in jar form. It really allowed for the careful distribution of the product.

The Product:

The thin water like texture was very appealing to me. A small amount of the product was able to effectively moisturize my entire face without adding excess oil to my skin.

Results on my skin:

Ok, I loved this product! While I have combination skin with the majority of oils settling on my t-zone, my skin still had the ability to look dull and sallow.  This product really helped bring life back to my skin! I felt comfortable enough to go bare-faced after a few weeks of consistent use.

Cost: A 1.70z jar of this will cost you $89.00 ( Canadian) YIKES!

Is it Worth The Hype:

Yes! I love how it worked for my skin. However, the price point certainly kept me on the hunt for products that are more cost effective. (stayed tuned)

Tatcha - The Water Cream 1.7 oz/ 50 mL Clean at Sephora

I was able to purchase the travel sized duo of these products for only $33.00( Canadian) at my local Sephora.

Get Clear Skin in 5 Simple Steps: Updated Skin Care Routine…

Get Clear Skin in 5 Simple Steps: Updated Skin Care Routine…

Hey ladies!

I don’t know about you, but when I entered my 30’s, my skin completely changed. I was the girl who NEVER had a pimple EVER. Not even during particularly hormonal times. However, when I turned 30 it was like my skin decided that it wanted to play catch up with all the missed out adolescent skin care woes and attack me! So I had to change up my skincare routine and finally I think I have found one that works for me and has returned my skin to its adolescent opulence.

Here’s what has been working for me: 5 simple steps to clear skin!

Step One: Use Make-Up Wipes and/or Cleansing Oil – I really like the Sephora Collection wipes. I rotate between the Charcoal  cleansing and exfoliating wipes  which are good for Purifying & Detoxifying and the Coconut Water wipes which focus more on  Soothing & Relaxing. I like to use this to take off the makeup on the surface of the skin. If I’m wearing a really full face I opt to begin with a cleansing oil to really break down the products on my face. I am particularly fond of the Neutrogena  Ultra Light Cleansing Oil. It really gets off products quickly. The only thing I don’t like about this product is that it is super drying, so if you have super dry skin this may not be the product for you.  On my really lazy days, I use a Micellar water to take off my makeup. I love the Garnier brand.

Image result for sephora collection coconut wipesImage result for neutrogena cleansing oilImage result for sephora collection coconut wipesImage result for garnier micellar water

Step Two: Cleanse the skin- After removing my makeup, I go in with a cleanser. I am absolutely OBSESSED with the Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser. It literally removes all the excess makeup and oils from my skin. I love how fresh my face feels after using this product. I use this product twice daily.  When my skin is in a bit of a pimple flare up, I tend to reach for my old favourite the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Wash. This has those exfoliating beads that really give my skin a deep cleanse when I need to work on those trouble spots.

Step Three: Toner- I use a toner to help restore balance to my skin. This also preps my skin for the moisture products that come in the next step. My skin has really taken to the Tea Tree Oil Skin Clearing Mattifying Facial Toner from the Body Shop.

Image result for the body shop tea tree toner

Step Four: Eye Cream: I never used to use eye cream until literally a few weeks ago. I have really low iron which causes me to have dark circles under my eyes and those perpetually makes me look tired. So I saw an eye cream on sale at Marshalls and decided to try it. I see a little bit of a difference. I do want to do some research and invest in one and make sure it stays a part of my daily routine.

Step Five: Moisturize your skin: I have always have combination skin, but as I’ve gotten older, its tended to ere on the oily side. This has kept me from adding moisture to my skin because I felt that my skin was oily enough. However, this is a myth! Adding moisture to your skin actually helps balance the skin out and have the correct amount of moisture ( not oils) on your skin.  I used to use fancy lotions but now I use the MBMB Raw Shea Butter at night and a Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF in the day.

Bonus Step: Drink an obnoxious amount of water! The organ is the body’s largest organ and water is the most effective way to keep that organ flourishing ! Drink your water peeps!

That’s all for now folks! Hope something in this routine is helpful for you!
Till Next time…

Beauty Blog: Foreo Luna For Combination Skin

Beauty Blog: Foreo Luna For Combination Skin

Hey guys!

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted a beauty blog. But that’s because for the last little while, I hadn’t been trying new products. I recently got back into the product game and have a few products I feel worthy to share with you guys.

Ever so often, my skin goes through a transformation. What used to work for me, no longer does so I have to go back to the drawing board and find a new skin care routine. I’m in the process of locking that down right now, so when I do, I will share it with you for sure! One thing that I am definitely going to be adding into my routine is the Foreo Luna Facial Brush for Combination Skin.

What is it?
According to Sephora.com,  it is a silicone facial brush for combination skin that channels both T-sonic pulsations for deep and gentle cleansing, and lower-frequency pulsations to reduce the signs of aging.

This brush is supposed to remove makeup, dead skin cells and unclog pores. It is supposed to provide deep cleansing action that combats oily skin and dry skin alike.  After using this product for about a month, I am sold! I have seen legitimate change in my overall appearance of my skin. Of course, taking care of my body internally ( staying hydrated with lots of water!) has helped as well.

This brush is made out of silicone ( which makes it easier to clean and keep away bacteria) and comes with a two year warranty. This product is rechargeable. It is suggested to not use the Foreo with any grainy, clay based or silcone based cleansers as it may harm to Foreo itself.

Here are my pros and cons for this product:

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Easy to purchase online or in store
  • Compact and easy to store. Really awesome to travel with
  • Rechargeable
  • Price- its a little on  the costly side, but because you do not have to replace brush heads ( like the Clarisonic) it is more cost effective.
  • Stays charged for a long time
  • Gentle on the skin while still giving a deep clean.

Cons: ( I only have one)

  • Price. Y’all know I love a bargain and this is not a bargain item lol. However again I stress, It is worth it!

I would definitely recommend this facial brush for all to try! Purchase yours here.

Beauty Blog: Oily Skin Routine….

Beauty Blog: Oily Skin Routine….

Hi guys,

I’m back with another beauty blog. This one is all about what I have been doing as of late to combat this new onset of oily skin I have been battling. I have always had combination skin ( some parts dry and some parts oily) but in the last year or so my skin has fared more on the oily side especially in my t-zone area (“The T-zone is the part of your face consisting of the forehead, nose and the area around your mouth, including the chin. It is so named because it’s shaped like the letter ‘T’.” Oil tends to build up in the t-zone, so it’s particularly important to exfoliate.http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=T-zone)

Now if you know me, I am a product junkie! If I see it, I will probably try it! But over time I have learned ( especially with my skin care routine) If the method ain’t broke, don’t fix it! So I decided to go back to my old routine, old products and see how that would help my skin!

So let me walk you through my routine!

  1. Drink lots of water! Up until a few years ago I never ever drank water. Maybe a glass here or there a couple of times a week. ( I know , I know…. horrible) But now, I’ve seen the light! I drink about 2 litres of water a day! I have replaced my daily pop ( and those who know me well, know I have/had (lol) a serious addiction to Dr. Pepper.) with a glass of water! Sometimes I’ll add a lemon or I’ll make a detox water with lemons, cucumbers and a mint leaf or two. So refreshing! Anyway, water intake is super important for healthy skin( our skin is our largest organ and needs to stay hydrated)
  2. Remove Excess Makeup: I have tried every single make-up removal wipe possible, but honestly the best wipes that take off my make-up, are good old-fashioned baby wipes! I use the sensitive/eco-friendly ones from the Baby Life Brand! They retail for about 4 dollars Canadian Dollars or sometimes you can get a value pack for about 8 bucks!
  3. Exfoliate: I stick to my old faithful ( holy grail if you will) product: the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Wash  Foaming Scrub. I love this product with everything in me! If they ever discontinue this product, I don’t know what I’ll do! 😛  I use this product with my Proactiv Deep Cleansing Brush. Using an exfoliating skin product alongside a cleansing brush really helps give your skin the deep clean it needs.
  4. Cleanse: I’ve recently returned to one of the first skin care products I ever used consistently in my skin care routine. Its the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser. I love this product. It leaves my face feeling clean and dry ( but not overly drying)
  5. Moisturize: Although my skin has oily patches, It’s still very important to get skin moisturized. I haven’t found my go to product yet so I have been trying out a few. Firstly, I have been using the Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer with SPF 30. It is light-weight and not much product is needed to cover your entire face. It does have a strong sunscreen smell to it however that I am not to fond of. It is a bit pricey at about 20 Canadian dollars.Next, I have been trying the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream from The Body Shop.  It does a pretty good job of controlling my oils. Again, a little goes a long way with this product. This retails for approximately 18 dollars Canadian. #Lastly, I have been trying the 8 hr Mattifying Moisturizer from Sephora. I must admit, I really love this product. It is quite expensive at 27 Canadian Dollars for 1.69 oz of product. However, you don’t have to use a lot of product daily ( just about a dime size) so its serves you well. I find this one wears well especially under my foundation.  So hopefully this method and/or products work for you! I have been doing this routine for about a month or so and I am loving the results. Let me know what you have been using! Any suggestions for me? Let me know!

xoxo

Beauty Blog: Current Skin Care Routine

Beauty Blog: Current Skin Care Routine

Hey y’all!

I hope this day finds you in good health, feeling good and enjoying life! Today, in honor of the first day of school ( It actually wasn’t too bad this year 😛 )  I wanted to share my current skin care routine. Now, I must say, I have been really blessed with pretty good skin. Aside from the occasional blemish ( and pimples due to other womanly situations) I’ve never really had to do much to maintain clear skin. But with age ( Yes I know I’m not old by any means lol) my skin has gone through changes. Recently, my skin has changed from combination skin ( dry and oily) to more on the oily side. So, I’ve had to change-up my products. So… this is what I’m currently using.

Lets start with the products I use on a daily basis and I’ll list them in the order that I use them in:

Step One: Clean and Clear Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser: Love this product. I use this in my evening shower routine. I particularly reach for this product when I wear a full face of makeup all day long. If I have a very basic face ( concealer, powder, eyeliner, mascara) I jump right into step two.

Step Two: Simple Cleansing Micellar Water: ( What is a Micellar Water?  It  is a skin care product that removes makeup and cleanses the skin, without the need for rinsing) I use this product in lieu of makeup removal wipes. I enjoy that it gets the majority of my makeup off, but I however am super particular about my skin so I always follow this with a cleanser

Step Three: Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash (pink grapefruit) This is my Holy Grail product! If they ever discontinue this product, I don’t know what I’ll do 🙂 I really like this product because of the microbeads in this formula. This helps eliminate blackheads ( which is one skin blemish I tend to get more often as of late) It smells fantastic!  I truly feel my skin tingling while using this product. It doesn’t leave my face feeling overly dry, which I also love.

Step Four: Next, I like to moisturize with a product from a local business vendor ( my friend Vanessa) Oubel Lemongrass Body Butter.(This can be used all over the body) This is another Holy Grail product for me! My skin has never felt so smooth! Whenever I’m feeling stressed or my skin I  just needs a boost, I like to use the Ginger Mousse Mask from this line to give my face some life! (Check out Vanessa’s Facebook or Instagram : Oubelbodybutters )http://https://www.facebook.com/pages/Oubel-Body-Butters/747399182004872?fref=ts

images courtesy of Oubel Body Butters Facebook Page. Check them out…
images courtesy of Oubel Body Butters Facebook Page. Check them out…

What I love about these products, is that they are all easily accessible and cost-effective. I can purchase all of these products (with the exception of the Oubel products)  at Wal-Mart or Shoppers Drug Mart ( similar store to a CVS or Rite Aid). All of these items are all priced 15 dollars and under!  Check them out!

I try to do a Ginger Mousse Mask once per week and do the remaining steps daily! What’s your skin care regimen? Any products I should try to combat oily skin? Let me know!

xoxo
