I Wrote A Book…

2020 was an interesting year to say the least. While I took some time off from posting on this blog, God downloaded a project into my spirit. Now this project is something I have always wanted to create but it seems like the timing was never right and if we learned anything from 2020 it was that our timing means absolutely nothing ! God will do what He’s ready to do when He gets good and ready to do it 🙂

I began to write a completely different book, one that was geared towards young women (and mind you that book / devotional is still in the works) but God shifted my creative process another way. I was able to draw on my other passion in life which is being an educator, an influence to the littlest of learners , for inspiration.

I was inspired by the song, “Who You Say I Am” by Hillsong. At the particular time of this books inception, that song provided the melodic affirmation that I needed to hear. These lyrics in particular got me through some tough days when I would let what people said i was overshadow who I knew God said I was.

I am chosen, not forsaken

I am who You say I am

You are for me, not against me

I am who You say I am

Hillsong Worship

And there it was… with simple lyrics like that, God downloaded a passion and desire to impart this same affirmation over our children. The age of 0-5 is the most crucial time of development in a child’s life. Their minds are like sponges. They soak up everything that is bestowed upon them which means that it is crucially important to speak life giving affirmations over them.

So, in that fashion, the book, “Who God Says I Am” was born. I chose to feature a little girl of colour as my main character as a way to provide content for little girls who looked like me. I didn’t have a lot of that easily accessible to me as a child.

Not only do these affirmations speak life over children, they are good reminders for adults as well. This book provides ample opportunities for parents/caregivers to sit with their children and have some good conversations about self worth and identity in God the Father . A friend of mine told me she now picks a page out of this book daily and recites it with her 3 year old daughter as part of their morning routine! That warms my heart ❤

Now I’m not here to scream buy my book…. but if you’re interested( and I hope you are lol) here is a link to purchase ❤ 🙂

But most importantly remember that God Loves You ❤

  1. I’m so proud of you, Soph! This book even encouraged me, lol but I’m glad I gifted it to one of my god babies and she absolutely loves it.
