Sunday Style: The One With The Black Jumpsuit…

Hey y’all!

Follow me on this tale of a girl who had an event to go to, yet had absolutely nothing to wear! The girl is me and this was my dilemma yesterday…

Sigh,,, so I’ve known about this event I had to go to for weeks now, yet hadn’t bothered to look for anything to wear. So Saturday afternoon, approximately about 5 hours before the event was to start  ( Thank goodness we were on Caribbean/African time, so 5 hours was really 8 🙂 ) I found myself in the mall with my homegirl ( who was also attending the event) SCRAMBLING!!! Guys, we went into 3 or 4 or 5 or 10 stores, with NO SUCCESS! I was literally about to give up and pull out a repeat outfit ( ugh the horror! just kidding ) when I sauntered in to one final store and.. there it was … the black jumpsuit.

First of all, I didn’t even see this jumpsuit. I saw another olive green one that was so gorgeous, just not the colour scheme I wanted for the evening. I was literally about to give up for real, when my little sis ( shout out to you Shanice) found this little gem and brought it back for me to try on.

The jumpsuit is made of a thick polyester material. It boasts a tapered leg and a v-neck scrappy detailing that is to die for! Here’s how I styled it and purchasing details!

The jumpsuit itself was so cute that I didn’t want to add too much to it jewellery wise. I simply added a silver and crystal beaded necklace. I also added a silver cuff bangle. Both were gifted to me so I’m not sure where they came from.

The black jumpsuit is from a store called Dynamite. It retails for $59.95 ( Canadian Currency) Purchase here

The black cropped blazer jacket was a Target find about 3 years ago when Target made its failed Canadian expansion 😦  On the bright side, I managed to pick that little gem up for… wait for it… $5.00 measly Canadian dollars ! 🙂 🙂

The shoes are my all time favourite shoes, black faux suede ballerina heels from Aldo years ago. These shoes are actually so comfortable. I wore them all night and even did a two step in them with no aching feet at the end of the night.

I threw on a Bauhau5 ( Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick) on my lips along with a plethora of other things on my face ( let me know if you want to know details ) and out the door I went!

I guess waiting till the last minute worked out for me this time!
Have an amazingly stylish week and remember…

Style Sunday: Black and White Striped Pants…

Style Sunday: Black and White Striped Pants…

Hey ya’ll

I am currently travelling so this is a quick post today of an outfit I wore awhile back to a concert where I was ministering in song. I needed something comfortable yet still stylish. Here’s what I came up with,,,

I chose a pair of black and white striped palazzo pants ( wide legged pants) with an elasticized waist, pockets and a self tie belt. These pants are the most comfortable pants ever. They are made out of  rayon material, which make them so light and airy. Perfect for an unusually warm spring day.

I paired these pants with. a simple black cotton long sleeved bodysuit and some faux velvet loafers. I also threw on a floppy felt hat!

I kept my makeup extremely simple: Just foundation, eyeliner, highlighter  and lipstick.

Outfit Details: All pieces were purchased at Forever 21! 🙂
Makeup Details:  Foundations ( NARS in the shade “Benares”) Eyeliner ( Maybelline Unstoppable in “Onyx”) Highlighter ( Kylie Cosmetics in “Salted Caramel “)  Lipstick ( Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in “Bauhau5)

Have a wonderful stylish week and remember…

Style Sunday: Easter Weekend Outfits…

Style Sunday: Easter Weekend Outfits…

Hey y’all! Quick post today! Just wanted to share some of the outfits I wore this weekend. Any holiday is a reason to “dress up”  for me, so this is what I threw together for this Easter Weekend!

Outfit One : Good Friday Service:

Anybody who knows me, knows I can be a little bit extra when it comes to my fashion. I definitely like to make a statement with my outfits. What better way to make a statement, than to throw a fascinator on! 🙂

I paired a knee length black pencil skirt from Forever 21 with a cream wide strap tank top. I found in my closet a red quilted semi bomber jacket that I purchased at a  store called Urban Behaviour many many  years ago. The fascinator was ordered when I was part of a bridal party for a bridal shower off of the Aliexpress website for something ridiculously cheap as $4.00 or something! I paired my old faithful black booties from Payless and off I went.

My makeup was kept simple. Foundation Nars “Benares”, Laura Mercier setting powder, Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner in “Onyx” and Stila liquid lipstick in “Beso”.

Outfit 2: Good Friday Dinner/ Easter Concert

I needed an outfit that was casual enough for family dinner, yet stylish enough for an event in the evening.  I chose my favourite pair of high waisted  distresed skinny jeans from the Old Navy Curvy Collection. I  paired these jeans with a mustard yellow bodysuit with a keyhole opening  at the front. I placed a white bralette underneath for modesty 🙂  I threw on some 2 inch nude pumps to dress it up a little, as well as a rose gold watch from Guess. My makeup was the same as above, with just a lipstick change. I wore the Kat Von D Everlasting lipstick in “Crucifix”

Outfit Three: Easter Sunday Morning Church!

I wore a plum body con dress with cold shoulder detailing from Forever 21. I paired it with a long camel coloured vest purchased at a store called ” Sirens”. I added my rose gold Guess watch and flower earrings as accessories and beige lace up pumps from Aldo on my feet!

Makeup was basic. No change except my lip colour which was Stila’s  “Chianti” and a little Kylie Cosmetics “Chocolate Cherry” highlight on my cheeks. IMG_4519.JPG

What did you wearing on this beautiful Easter weekend? Let me know, and remember…

Style Sunday: The One With The Sparkly Cape…

Style Sunday: The One With The Sparkly Cape…

Hey y’all!

I’m back again with a quick edition of Style Sunday! You ever look in your closet and think to yourself, “I have nothing to wear!!”  That was me this morning. Mind  you, its not like I didn’t have options ( that would be incredibly false and ungrateful of me to say) but there was nothing I FELT like wearing today… until I peeked way deep in the back of my little closet ( I really need to spring clean it… sigh)  and voila! This beautiful piece jumped out at me.

I purchased this piece months upon months ago when Forever 21 had a sale on all their clearance items(  I love a good clearance rack 🙂 )  The piece I speak of is a beautiful silver sequin cape jacket.

This item isn’t available anymore, nor can I find anything online that compares, so I’ll just show you how I styled it today : )

I paired a long sleeved black body suit with a knee length black pencil skirt. This acted as a neutral base for the sequinned cape. The cape has a hook eye fastener in the front that when fastened , takes on the appearance of a  really tailored tuxedo jacket. The sleeves on the cape are three-quarter length, which allows for easy mobility. I finished this outfit off with a pair of patent leather ankle -strap pointed toe stilettos ( sidetone: I have had these shoes since 2003 and they are still going strong! LOL! I don’t get rid of anything clearly … smh), I didn’t wear any jewelry other than the two rings I wear daily becuase the cape was enough of a statement piece on its own.

My makeup was minimal today because I woke up super late! Foundation ( Makeup Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in shade 180) Eyeliner ( Maybelline Unstoppable in “Onyx”) Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder , Liquid Lipstick ( Kat Von D “Sanctuary”) and  Highlight (Kylighter in “Banana Split”)

That’s it for today folks! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and remember…

Style Sunday: The One With The Blue Kimono…

Style Sunday: The One With The Blue Kimono…

Hey guys!

Quick post here! Today is a busy day, but I couldn’t let the day pass by without sharing today’s outfit!

It feels like spring has finally sprung in my city but as my fellow Canadians know, it could be beautiful today and a blizzard tomorrow. So I am enjoying the beautiful sunshine while I have it!

Today I wanted to incorporate some colour back into my wardrobe. I have been wearing loads of black, grey and olive greens  this winter season but the true essence of me, lives for colourful pieces! The more colour the better!

So, today I paired a simple black three- quarter length short sleeved dress with a long  length short sleeved blue kimono. The dress I purchased years ago from Forever 21 ( surprise surprise 🙂 ) and the kimono was purchased years ago at H&M.

Here are links to similar pieces:
Dress: (purchase here)

I paired this outfit with a pair of black ballerina style stilettos  from Aldo and a pearl necklace and bracelet set from Lia Sophia.

Nars Foundation in the shade Benares
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder,
Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner,
Tartelette in Bloom palette(eyes)

Style Sunday: Black Goes With Everything…

Style Sunday: Black Goes With Everything…

Hey y’all!

I know I’ve been missing in action for a few weeks, but… finally I’m back and ready to share some of what I’ve been wearing these past few weeks!

I had a number of events these past few weeks, that required me to get creative with my outfits. But the weather has been so EXTREMELY COLD here where I live that I haven’t had any motivation to wear any colour other than…. Black! If you know me, you should know that that is not the norm for me ! I’m usually all about my vibrant colours! However, I did manage to pull out some nice outfits that I’d like to share with you 🙂

Outfit One:  Blue Jeans and Black Cold Shoulder Sweater…

I paired my favourite pair of blue distressed  high waisted skinny jeans from the Old Navy Curvy jeans line, with this black cold shoulder sweater that I purchased from H&M. I finished this look off with olive green booties ( not pictured here) also from Old Navy.  No jewellery other than my trusty cross and baby ring necklace!

I kept my makeup simple; eyeliner ( Maybelline Unstoppable ) Make-Up Forever Foundation and Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in the colour “Sanctuary”.

Outfit Two:  Black Lace and a Fur Vest…

This outfit was something I wore to work on the Friday before March Break! I had to work later than I like (lol) and I had an event to go to right after my shift had ended. I wanted something casual as well as something fashion forward and since it was freezing cold, I found it fitting to pull out my trusty fur vest! I purchased this vest on Ebay so long ago for less than 10 dollars!

I saw this black lace “Brooklyn” top on the Forever 21 website, however when I went to see if they had it at my local store, it was nowhere to be found. I had forgotten about it until recently when I was walking by the same Forever 21 and saw it in the display window. I raced into the store and finally got my hands on one in my size!

I love that this piece is super casual because of the block lettering of the word “Brooklyn” but can still be “dressed up” if need be.

I paired this outfit with shiny tights from Garage clothing and little black booties. To add some colour, I put on a red lip : “Beso” by Stila Cosmetics.

Fur Vest:

Outfit Three: Black Lace Top and Leather Skirt…

This last outfit is an outfit I wore to my homegirls bridal shower. It was a Coco Chanel theme, so naturally the colour palette was black and white. The bridal party decided on wearing black and pearls so that we would all be uniform.  With it being so cold, the outfit I had planned on wearing was not warm enough! So last minute, I ran into H&M and came out with these pieces that I paired together to create my look.

I found this black polyester/ lace top that I fell in love with instantly!  I enjoyed the deep v-neck detailing that gave this top just enough Va va voom to spice up the look, while remaining mostly modest 🙂  The A-Line faux leather  high waisted skirt was super flattering and very comfortable! I paired them with my Lia Sophia freshwater pearl earring, bracelet and necklace set as well as little black booties purchased from Payless years ago ( I honestly love these shoes. You guys must be sick of them by now! I do have other shoes don’t worry 🙂

I can’t seem to find these pieces online for purchase 😦

So thats all I’ve been wearing these past few weeks!
Its good to be back!! See you next week with anther edition of Style Sunday and remember…

Style Sunday: The Olive Green Jacket….

Style Sunday: The Olive Green Jacket….

Hey guys!

I know I’ve been MIA for a while but I’ll be back to regularly scheduled blogging very soon! So here’s a super quick post to tide you over till then!

Forever 21 had a sale going on that was 50 percent off the lowest ticketed price! I was in sale heaven!  ( If you know me, you know I love a good sale! I swear bargain shopping is therapeutic for me!) It was during this time that I spotted a beautiful olive green jacket on the rack!

This jacket is a double breasted satin jacket, with gold button detailing . The jacket is very fitted and reaches me at about mid thigh.  It has a pocket on each side and gold button detailing on each arm.

What I love about this jacket is that you could dress it up ( like I did today) or even throw on a pair of distressed jeans and a white camisole and voila another outfit is made!

This jacket retails for $33.99 ( Canadian) and I was able to pick it up for $16.50!

I paired this jacket with a black pencil skirt and a black body suit, both also purchased at Forever 21 ( seriously this place needs to sponsor me 🙂 )

Lastly I added a pair of olive green booties that I purchased  from Old Navy.  I had wanted to own these boots since Christmas , but I couldn’t bring myself to spend 50 dollars on them. I mean they are super cute, but definitely worth 50 dollars to me! So imagine my surprise, when I walked into Old Navy  a few weeks back and said shoes were on sale for $19.99! I wasted no time throwing these into my basket and away I went!

I kept my makeup basic: Makeup Forever Velvet Mat Foundation , Naked 1 Palette , Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner in onyx and Colourpop “LAX” on my lips!

I threw my favourite velvet choker with a gold cross on and a gold watch and there you have it!

Have a beautiful Sunday and remember….

Style Sunday: Polka Dot Dress…

Style Sunday: Polka Dot Dress…

Hey guys!

I’m back again with another edition of “Style Sunday”. This one features a steal! As I was perusing the shelves at my local H&M I saw this cream coloured dress with black and brown polka dots on it. I just looked at it and decided it was ugly! But I have a thing for “ugly” patterns and prints. Something about them just calls to me, as was the case with this dress!

This dress is made from polyester material. It has three quarter length sleeves and its length reaches just below the knees… on me that is ( I’m only 5’3 1/2!) It tapers in at the waist to help give the dress some shape. This dress also boasts a large keyhole opening at the back of the dress. I however chose to keep It modest and paired It with a camisole to cover my back. I mean I’m all for a open back, but seeing as I was heading to church this morning,I felt as if modesty was key!

I woke this morning to lots of snow falling so that changed my shoe plans. I just wasn’t in the mood to wear winter boots and change my shoes when I got to church, so I opted for a pair of cognac coloured booties that I’ve had for at least a decade… they’ve got some wear and tear to them!

I felt a little fancy so I finished off the outfit with my freshwater pearl set from ” Lia Sophia” ( a gift from a dear friend as token for being in her wedding 🙂 love ya girl!)

Here’s what I wore on my face:

L.A. Girl Concealer in the shade “Fawn”
Laura Mercier  loose setting powder
Becca X Jaclyn Hill Highlight in “Champagne Pop” and “Amaretto”
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in the colour “Onyx”
MAC “Chestnut” lip liner paired with Kat Von D ” Crucifix”

None of the clothing I wore today is still available for purchase, but here are some links to some similar items if you are interested in recreating this look!

And here’s the final look…

Have a wonderfully stylish Sunday and week and remember…

Style Sunday: Black and Beige…

Style Sunday: Black and Beige…

Hey guys!

Really quick post today!

Forgive me for going missing! I have been battling some health issues ( flu then bronchitis and throat infection and ear infection) This winter season has been really kicking my butt so I haven’t been wearing much more than sweatpants and hoodies for the  past two weeks! So today, I still wanted to keep my outfit pretty simple ( well simple on my terms anyway lol)  Here’s what I wore :

Black Pencil Skirt: I purchased this at Forever 21 a long time ago. Simple slip on skirt, with some ribbed detailing.
Black Long Sleeve Shirt: Cotton shirt I’m pretty sure I purchased at WalMart! I just needed a long sleeve black top to go underneath another piece I was wearing.
Beige Vest: Long, beige cape style vest made up of a soft polyester blend material. This was purchased last year at a store called Sirens!

Shoes: Beige suede stiletto lace up mule that I purchased at Aldo back in the fall.
Jewellery : Nothing but my trusty old cross/baby ring!

Make-up was kept super simple with just some eyeliner ( Maybelline Unstoppable in “Onyx”) a light dusting of shadow ( Tartelette in Bloom Palette ) Mascara ( Maybelline Push Up Drama  In “Blackest Black” ) Foundation ( Nars in the shade” Benares”)  and to finish the look off Stila liquid lipstick in the shade “Amore” ( which is like my new fav by the way! ).  No contouring, No highlight nothing fancy ( I frankly didn’t have the energy)

So that’s it for today folks! Hopefully I’ll be back to full capacity soon… and remember….

Style Sunday: Black and White Casual Outfit

Style Sunday: Black and White Casual Outfit

Hey guys!

Welcome to 2017’s first edition of “Style Sunday”.  Today is a super chill day so I just wanted to share with you a quick everyday  casual outfit. It seems as of late I have been gravitating towards really simple pieces in my wardrobe. Solid colours like black, white, grey and olive green ( and mustard yellow) have been the colours in my wardrobe palette as well as stripes and polka dots. I’ve also really begun to enjoy wearing running shoes ( tennis shoes, sneakers or trainers for my US and UK readers :p) so through the magic of Christmas , I have built a nice little selection!

So let’s begin! First I started off with a nice and shiny pair of black leggings from Garage Clothing. These  retail for $24.95 Canadian but I HAVE NEVER paid that much! I always seem to go into Garage when there is a 50% off sale.  These are the perfect leggings that are casual but still give you the option to dress them up if you wanted to.

Next, I added  a black and white v-neck long sleeved cotton shirt that I purchased at Old Navy on Boxing Day for 6 dollars! I am kicking myself that I didn’t buy the other colours as they are no longer in stores and not on the website!! Ah well you win some you lose some!  Old Navy has a similar one now on sale that retails for 15 dollars.

On my feet I wore a simple pair of black knee high boots that I purchased from Aldo shoes during their 40% off sale.  Super warm  and great for everyday wear.

Last, I threw on a gold bar necklace that had some cute chain detailing, some red lips and eyeliner and I was ready to go! Last piece that I added was my cute backpack from Forever 21 (you know I couldn’t let a post go by without Forever 21 sneaking in there lol)

So that’s it folks! I look forward to sharing more fashion content with you this year!Have a stylishly wonderful week!

Happy New Year from me to you!!
