God Has Not Forgotten You…

God Has Not Forgotten You…

Hey guys!

I was in a moment of quiet time with God this week and I was reminded of a song I hadn’t listened to in many many years; God Has Not 4Got by Tonex .  ( I know Tonex has made some life choices that no longer coincide with the word of God but this song of his speaks volumes still!)

The song led me to go back and look at the story of Noah and the Ark.  I’ve often wondered how Noah must have felt during this process.  Noah was living in a time where  the people God had created were at their utmost worst. God had had enough with them and was going to destroy them. However, Noah found favour with God because of his blameless behaviour. God established a covenant with Noah  and his family.

However, God had a few instructions for  Noah. First off, He was told by God to build this huge ark for this supposed flood that was going to happen one day. Although he was ridiculed and ostracized by the very people God was set to destroy , Noah persevered and did what he was told .  He was to bring his family, creatures of the earth, sea and sky aboard this ark and then await God’s instructions.

So for years on end Noah built this ark always remembering the promise God made with him. He was mocked mercilessly  but one day….finally, the flood waters came down, raining non stop for 40 days and 40 nights. Now if I was Noah, I would have been starting to get a little stir crazy at this point.

Then, after that 40th day the rains stopped…. but the earth was still flooded and for an additional 150 days. 150 days is just about 5 months.  Personally,  5 months cooped up in a boat with my family and animals and creatures of the land, sky and the sea…. is frightening! (lol) Even though God had saved us, I would honestly be thinking, ” Has God forgotten about us in here?”

But Noah still had faith and he waited patiently to hear from God. However, after the initial  5 months there was still almost a year before the waters receded completely.

Still Noah waited.

He sent out a raven and the raven came back confirming that the earth was still flooded…. Noah sent out a dove several times…

The earth was still flooded…

Finally after over a year of patiently waiting on God, The earth was finally was dry and God commanded Noah and his family to come out of the ark.
In the end, is where we find the covenant that God made with Noah and His people that still stands today. It is here that we learn the significance of the rainbow

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.

The bible doesn’t specify if Noah and God had any communication during this time but what I love about  this whole story   ( and what ties this whole story into the song) is in the beginning of Genesis chapter 8 verse 1 which simply states:

“But God remembered Noah….”

IMG_1626

Through all of this, God remembered Noah.

No matter what you are going through or where God has placed you, He has not forgotten you!

Just like God made a covenant with Noah, He also made a promise with us . He promised to never leave us or forsake us. You may be going through some serious hardships, but remember  God has not forgotten you. As we see with Noah, It took what seemed like  a long time for God’s promise to come to fruition. But what did we see? God came through!  Everything that God has predestined and planned for your life will come to pass! Why? Simply because He is God and He has yet to break a promise.

Don’t give up.

Keep pushing.

Keep persevering.

You are not forgotten! Sometime promises take time to be fulfilled…

So just like Noah stay faithful, stay humble and be patient!

GOD

HAS

NOT

FORGOTTEN

YOU

Till next time,
xoxo

Monday Motivation: Touch The Hem…

Monday Motivation: Touch The Hem…

Hey guys!

There are some biblical stories that are always talked about; David and Goliath, Adam and Eve, The birth of Jesus and his subsequent Crucifixion and so forth .But there is a story in the bible that is not often talked about.  It is the story of the woman with the issue of blood .

In this story there was a woman who was suffering with the condition of constant and continuous bleeding for TWELVE YEARS, Now in biblical times, when a woman was bleeding, it was a sign of being “unclean”. Now imagine, for twelve long years you are basically a pariah in your community.  She was prohibited from entering the synagogue and anything she touched became unclean as well.  Even if anybody bumped into her and came into contact with her they too became unclean. I can’t even begin to imagine what she must’ve been feeling. Isolated, alone, without hope.

Anyway, she had tried everything to get well. Seen doctors,  spent all she had on treatments. She was down to her last bit of will! She was looking for a miracle. She heard Jesus was passing by and decided within herself that  If she could only touch the hem of his garment ( robes) that she would be made well.

Now lets put this is perspective for a minute. Jesus drew a big crowd wherever he went. She was deemed unclean…. she entered this crowd. What do you think the people around her were thinking? What do you think they were saying? She didn’t care ! She was determined to just touch his hem and receive her miracle that day!

So, she reached out and touched the hem of his garment and instantly  the blood dried up and she was healed. Jesus, feeling the power come out of Him turned around and said, ,”Who touched me?”. He looked down and saw the woman and said to her, “Daughter your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed! ( Mark 5:22)

It seems that there is something new to learn every time you read a story in the bible and here’s what I took from this story this time:

What really inspired me was her  faith and determination. No matter what people were saying about her, despite her condition, she was not going to miss her opportunity for healing. She was determined to touch Jesus and be made well! Now Jesus could have felt the power of healing leave His body and kept on walking to where he was going. Nobody would  have known what had taken place except for Him and the woman. But instead , He acknowledged her and her perseverance. I say all that to say that Jesus sees and hears you when you cry out to Him! Keep listening! He’s acknowledging your faithfulness!

If only we could have faith like the woman with the issue of blood. That no matter our circumstances, we aren’t going to let any opportunity to touch Jesus pass us by! It’s obvious that while we are unable to physically touch Jesus while we are here on earth, there is another way “touch his hem” and that is…. PRAYER!

Prayer= Communication with God

Hebrews 4:16 states, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

Whatever it is you need from God whether it be a physical healing or even a mental or spiritual healing, reach out and touch his hem! Don’t miss your opportunity!

There is a song by Fred Hammond called “Let Me Touch The Hem” that is so fitting for this post. The lyrics are simply:

Let me touch the hem of His garment
touch the hem of His garment
and I will be made whole
(Repeat)

For the Lord is passsing by
Yes the Lord is passing by
His wondrous healing virture just take hold
So as He’s drawing nigh
Don’t let this moment pass you by
He can heal your body, your spirtit, and your soul
(Repeat)

You can find the story of the woman with the issue of blood in various parts of the New Testament: Matthew 9: 19-22, Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48

Be blessed guys! Have beautiful and blessed week!

Monday Motivation: Expectation…

Monday Motivation: Expectation…

Hey guys!

First and foremost, let me apologize for being so inconsistent these past few months. It’s been a rough few months to say the least; health wise, family wise and heart wise. I’ve just kind of been in a funk and with that funk came a huge case of writers block…. How could I post a “Motivation Monday”  when I myself  was the least motivated??

However, with this time away from regularly scheduled blogging, I had a lot of time to reflect. I had allowed myself to become a victim to the funk.

17 is my “lucky” ( favourite ) number. So with 2017 looming, I decreed and declared that 2017 was going to be my best year yet…. and then… ( cue dramatic pause)  it wasn’t. It has turned out to be one of the most challenging 6 months of my life thus far. This “funk” just gave me a serious case of the blahs and everything I was ( and am) passionate about seemed to take a back burner .

Then one day I heard a song that met me right where I was at: bound to my situation and not expecting anything to change. The song is called “Expectation” by James Fortune  and the lyrics are as follows:

I expect double I expect more
I am living In the overflow
I expect double I expect more
I am living In the overflow

Everything that’s been promised
I receive if I believe
(His word will not return void) His word will not return void
What’s been spoken, shall come to pass

(I want everything) Everything that’s been promised
I receive if I believe (I believe if God said it)
His word will not return void
What’s been spoken, (come into pass) shall come to pass

(I expect greater) I expect greater
Pressed down and shaken together
My cup runneth over (No longer living with just enough)
I have more than enough

( Repeat)

In life there are many expectations. As a child you are expected to obey your parents. You are expected to go to school, find a career and become a contributing member of society. You are expected to find a mate, get married and procreate… expectations, expectations, expectations….. But what do you expect of yourself? As Christians, what do we expect from God? What does God expect from us?

In reality the answer to all of those questions is love: Love others, love yourself and most importantly love God. Love conquers all; fear doubt, discouragement and even a case of the blahs and funk! Once I learned to lean on the love of God again, my expectations of my life rose to the highest tier !

love God,humility,selfishness,pride,commitment,love,Romans 1:1,Luke 15:11-24,prodigal son

The God I serve forces me to believe that He is greater than any situation and that I deserve EVERYTHING that He has promised to me!  The lyric in the song  that says, “Everything that’s been promised I receive, If I believe” ,  has now become my motto. I have now changed my outlook from “hope” and “possibility of change”  to EXPECTATION 🙂  I’m always comforted by Romans 8:28 which reads; “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Image result for god is greater

As I listened to the song I was reminded of the story of Jacob when he wrestled with God ( Genesis 32: 22-32)  To paraphrase, in verse 26, as Jacob wrestled with God , he tells God that he won’t let go until He blesses him. That’s the outlook I’m choosing to have; I won’t let go until God blesses me!

But to receive that blessing, I to have to put in the work. While I’m expecting God to bless me, He is expecting me to serve Him wholeheartedly in spirit and in truth. ( I will 🙂 )

I believe great things are on the way for me, as a matter of fact I’m expecting it!!! (and as a matter of fact on church on Sunday, the preacher pretty much confirmed it )

I’m excited for what God has in store for me; patiently waiting, actively seeking his direction.

Check out the song “Expectation” down below  🙂

Have a fabulous Monday!!
Stay encouraged and talk to you all soon!
Till next time…

Monday Motivation: All I Have To Give…

Monday Motivation: All I Have To Give…

Hey guys!

Sorry that I have been missing in action for this past week. Lots of health issues plaguing me and my family so I had to handle business! Now that we are on the mend for the most part, I’ll be flooding your feeds once again. 🙂

I was scrolling through my Ipod awhile back and I came across the song, “All I Have to Give” by an artist called Mali Music. This was the first song I ever heard by this artist many many years ago and I instantly fell in love with it. The song is so simple, but the message so real!  I had an opportunity to meet Mali and sing as part of an opening act at a concert held in my city a few years back. He was so humble and down to earth!  He has since deviated from the gospel industry but this particular song will always hold a special place in my heart.

IMG_4897
Me and Mali Music after the show!

What does it actually mean to give your all?  To give your all simply means to put all your energy and time into a task or a person. To give completely of yourself, unselfishly with no holds barred.

Now, I have some great friends and family who I am quite certain would be ( and have been) there for me whenever I needed them, but even that has its limitations.

Speaking as a person who has entered into a relationship with Christ, sometimes as Christians we don’t give God our all .  It’s almost as if we use Him at our leisure or convenience expecting everything  from Him and giving less than our best in return.  Hmm, that doesn’t seem fair does it?  Put yourself at the short end of stick? How would you feel?

God has already given us the greatest gift when He sent His son Jesus Christ as a living sacrifice to atone for our sins. All He asks in return is that you love Him with all your heart, soul and mind.
Matthew 23:37 reads, Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

To love anything with you heart, soul and mind, you really have to commit to the process!

The Heart: Proverbs 4:23 ( NLT) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Keep your heart pure. Don’t harbour malice or hate. Love people as God loves people. Strive to have a heart of compassion as Christ does. Don’t let  life and it’s many follies turn your heart away from God.

The Soul: Matthew 16:26 (NLT)  “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”  The last part of that scripture really resonates with me . Is anything worth more than your soul? I certainly don’t think so. Keep your soul aligned with God’s plan for your life. How you ask? Dig deeper into His word ( the bible) spend time in prayer and seek guidance and direction from the one who created you.

The Mind: Romans 12:2 (NLT)  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  This world we live in  has so many distractions and things that can leer your off course. But learn to stand out and go against the grain! You don’t have to do what everybody is doing. Through Christ Jesus, you are a new person.Don’t let your mind be manipulated into deviating from the course set before you!

This song All I Have to Give, is truly a love song to God. The author ( Mali) proclaims that everything he has, he will offer to God and that his whole embodiment belongs to God.

That’s how I feel about God. If you haven’t had an opportunity to encounter God and build a relationship with Him, I pray you do! It’s truly a wonderful thing!

Take a listen to song and read the lyrics down below. I hope it blesses you like it has blessed me!

Have a blessed week!
xoxo

[Verse 1:]

Lord if I could buy you a gift to show you my love, tell you how I feel.
It wouldn’t matter what I’d have to give. I would find a way to get it for you.
But fortunately that’s not the case and we both know I don’t have bank anyway.
But I won’t let it affect my presentation to you ’cause this is what I bring…

[Chorus:]
Here is my heart, my mind, Lord here’s my life, my everything. Take it. It’s yours oh Lord.

[Verse 2:]
I’ll give you my all, my everything, every song that I write,
Every song that I sing, every day of my life, every breath that I breathe,
You gave to me and Lord I rededicate it right back to you. Love of my life, so faithful, so true.
I get goosebumps just thinking about you and there’s nothing I will not do for you so

[Chorus:]
Here is (my) my heart (yeah) my mind (Lord here’s my life)
Lord here’s my life (oh oh oh oh oh oh) my everything (yeah) take it (take it) it’s yours oh Lord It’s all I have
[Repeat chorus and end with “to give”]

[Bridge:]
I give you my best ’cause I love you… I’m yours
[Repeat chorus till fade]

Monday Motivation: I Am…

Monday Motivation: I Am…
Hey guys!
I hope this Monday is finding you in good health and good spirits! This weekend while I was taking some time to relax I decided to scroll through my Instagram feed. Sometimes I like to take a look at old photos and reminisce. I came across one post in particular and that’s what birthed today’s post.
FullSizeRender (2)
I grew up in a Pentecostal family. At 10 years old, I made a choice to follow Christ. At 13 years old, I received the gift of water baptism. At 15 I was filled with the Holy Spirit and from 16-21…. ( and sometimes still today!) I made poor decisions, I lived a “one foot in one foot out”lifestyle. I  I struggled with anger and temper problems. I was in no way, shape or form a representation of the God I claimed to serve.  I always felt guilty when I went astray and could never really be comfortable outside of the presence of God.
From the outside looking in, I was a lost cause! Deep down inside, I always knew who I was supposed to be, I was just having trouble staying on the straight and narrow!
Now what inspired that Instagram post many years ago was because of an incident that happened to me at my church. Who wouldn’t feel discouraged when you overhear people who are supposed to be lifting you up, plotting and betting on your demise?
That really hurt my feelings but I really thank God for wise parents who simply told me, “Well prove them wrong!”
Now that I have matured physically and spiritually I can look back at where I was and be grateful that I made it through my “rebellious” stage.  But its also forced me to remember who I used to be when dealing with youth around me. It actually really hurts my feelings when somebody sees a young person struggling and automatically counts them out and doesn’t do anything to help them! What word of wisdom did you offer then while they were struggling?
That’s not to say that you condone their poor choices. But there is a way to reprimand with love! I always tell the young people I am around, “Don’t be like me, be better than me!” There’s only so much talking you can do. The best thing you can do is live by example and never stop praying and encouraging!  You never know what someone may be struggling with and your encouraging word ( or lack thereof ) could be the catalyst for change ( or a continued walk down a dangerous path)
Like my Instagram post said, I’m super grateful for those who never gave up on me and it’s my plan to be an example to others! Regardless of how people may behave, remember to “just love them anyway”!  ❤
One song that I actually had been listening all  week prior to even going through my Instagram ( funny how God brings things together isn’t it? 🙂 )  is called ” I Am” by Kirk Franklin. The part of the chorus that really made an impact on me this week was :
I am so far from perfect
I thought life was worthless
Until you showed me who I am
Not here by mistake
No luck, only grace
I’m on my way to
Who I am
To anybody out there who feels like you let yourself, others and more importantly God down, remember that you are on your way to being who God designed you to be! You are not a mistake, you have a purpose. Don’t let your past put chains on your future!  There is a quote by Joyce Meyer I love that states : “I’m not where I need to be, but thank God i’m not where I used to be.”
I’m so far from perfect or being a “perfect Christian” but God has truly shown up in my life and helped me realize who I am because of Him! Thank you Father! 🙂
Take a listen to the song down below! I hope it blesses you as it has me!
xoxo

How do you do?
I am a sinner
Born into sin and shaped in iniquity
Now I believe not who I was but still not what I shall be
You found me and gave me your name and
Things I desired have changed but
Inside you’ll see it’s still broken pieces
Deep in me reaches for you (hello)

How do you do?
I am a beggar (that means I’m)
Desperate for more
I hunger for your truth
See I am shattered
Though I may fall still you make all things new
You speak, the storm, it obeys and gone is the weight of mistakes and
Though I still feel you continue to heal, look close, and see (whoa)

[Chorus:]
I am so far from perfect
I thought life was worthless
Until you showed me who I am
Not here by mistake
No luck, only grace
I’m on my way to
Who I am (not who I was), I am (forgiven and loved)
I am (healed by your blood), I am (yes)
Thank God I am (still being changed)
I am (help me say), I am

How do you do?
I am a winner (it wasn’t easy)
I’ve lost a few and life’s knocked me to my knees
But now I am standing (hallelujah)
Not by my power, but your life inside of me (just like you, I’ve gone through)
Even through seasons and changes (no tear)
No tear has ever been wasted
Misunderstood still it worked for my good
look now and see
I am not the old me but still
(I am not the old me but still)

[Chorus:]
I am (I am) so far from perfect
I thought life was worthless
Until you showed me who I am (don’t forget you’re)
Not here by mistake (yes)
No luck, only grace
I’m on my way to
Who I am (now called your son), I am (forgiven for what I’ve done)
I am (forgiven for what I’ve done), I am (yes)
Thank God I am (sealed by your grace)
I am (still here, help me say), I am

[Bridge:]
Here and I’m closer, praise now is stronger
Stood up to fear, by faith I’m still here
Couldn’t walk away, love said not today
Times haven’t seen what God has for me
The hurt and the lies, through the pain, through the night
Cried and I cried but still I survived

[Chorus:]
I am so far from perfect
I thought life was worthless (yes God)
Until you showed me who I am (I am)
Not here by mistake
No luck, only grace
I’m on my way to
Who I am (and all of you), I am (I’m in love with you)
I am (here to worship you), I am (Jesus)
Thank God I am (ready to be closer)
I am (ready to go higher), I am

[Chorus:]
I am so far from perfect (so far)
I thought life was worthless (yes)
Until you showed me who I am (but you showed me)
Not here by mistake (thank you)
No luck, only grace (thank you)
I’m on my way to
Who I am (I’m not ashamed), I am (look, I’m not the same)
I am (I’m letting go of the pain), I am (yes Lord)
Thank God I am (more than what you see)
I am (not yet what I shall be), I am

Thank you
You didn’t give up on me while I was still in the process
Hallelujah God that you could see what I couldn’t see
Thank you

Monday Motivation: Always…

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope this Monday finds you in good health and good spirits! I am finally really on the mend! Finally getting my minor health issues under control and am able to be up and moving around like the old me!

This weekend, I spent lots of time with friends and friends who are more like family.  I attended a fantastic stag and doe, a beautiful bridal party brunch for one of my dearest friends ( you can’t beat 25 years of friendship!) and then celebrated the same friends grandmothers 90th birthday ! Busy and full weekend surrounded by some of best people God has ever created!

At the end of the weekend, I spent some time reflecting on friendship. I have amazing friends who have really been there for me during some of the darkest times of my life. But, on the contrary, I have had some “friends” who have not been there for me. “Friends” who have kicked me when I was down ( figuratively speaking) and rejoiced in my failures… I use the word “friend” in quotations because to me that’s not the definition of a friend.

Merriam- Webster dictionary has a real simple definition of the word friend. It defines a friend as:

  • a person who you like and enjoy being with

  • : a person who helps or supports someone or something

  • one attached to another by affection or esteem

This really got me thinking about a great friend that I have…. and His name is Jesus! I know, I know super cliche but it’s so true. I have 2 best friends, that would do anything for me ( and vice versa) but even so there are limitations to what our friendship can do for each other.

My friendship with Jesus, really hits the definition of friendship on the head.Do I enjoy being with Jesus? Absolutely! I find peace and solace in my quiet time with Him! Does He support me ? Of course! Jesus is my biggest cheerleader! He also isn’t afraid to check me and put me in my place when needed!

This week I wanted to share the song, “Always” by Kirk Franklin with you. An oldie but a goodie! The lyrics of the song truly epitomizes how I feel!

Check out the lyrics and the song down below and may your week be blessed!!!
xoxo

[Verse 1]
You know I’ve had some lonely days
I’ve made mistakes and had to pay
I’ve had some friends that walked away
Just like mama told me
But there’s someone whose love is real
Who cares about the way I feel
Every pain, and erase every stain
There’s peace when I call out your name
(Listen)

[Chorus 1]
Jesus, You’re my everything
The cross, You did that just for me
So whatever You take me through
I promise you
I’ll spend my always with you

[Verse 2]
No one can touch my heart like You
Or make me smile the way You do
I finally found someone who
Who really, truly loves me
And when my strength has come and gone
Your life in me it makes me strong
Your hand is where my heart belongs
You take all my pain and erased every stain

[Chorus 1]

[Chorus 2]
Jesus, my whole life has changed
Since that day I cried Your name
For every time You’ve brought me through
I promise You
I’ll spend my always with You

Did He say He’ll never leave you?
Did He promise He’ll never forsake you?
How many of you believe that in here?
Let me hear you
(Ohhhhhhhh oohhhhhh ohhh)
He won’t let you down, right?
(Ohhhhhh ohhhhh)
He’ll catch every tear
So if you know He can be your Father and He cares for you
Come on and stand on your feet and help me praise Him in here

Monday Motivation: It Is So….

Hi guys,

Super quick blog post today! I just wanted to share a song I have been jamming on for a few weeks and had on repeat today! The song is “It is So ” by William Mcdowell featuring Travis Greene. The lyrics in full are right here, but I just wanted to touch on one part of the song that really stood out to me:

Well, He is Alpha – AMEN!
And Omega – AMEN!
He’s the beginning – AMEN!
And the end – AMEN!
Through every trial – AMEN!
Tribulation – AMEN
He always causes His people to win

What a comforting feeling to know that no matter what I’m going through, there is a God on the battlefield fighting for me and with him on my side I will be a winner EVERY TIME! Amen!! ❤

Take a listen to this song and be blessed!
