Monday Motivation: #NewYearNewYou..

“I’m going to go to the gym….”
“I’m going to go to church more…”
“I’m going to eat healthy…”

We have all made these types of resolutions in the past and as the year comes to a close, I’m sure many of us are making them right now!!

My family was in town for the holiday season, and my cousins were poking fun at the people who use the cliche term , “New Year New Me!”  That really got me thinking about that term. Why do you have to wait until the new year to make changes? Why use that term if you are really not going to actually change?

So this year I vowed to not make any frivolous resolutions. Instead of the using the catch phrase “new year new me”, I plan to live by the vow of “new DAY new me”

This year I plan to:
Love a little harder each day…
Forgive daily….
Take the opportunity to learn new things daily…
See the beauty in each day…
Trust God even more each day…
Grow…
Live in the moment… but prepare for the future…
Not let what people say deter me from being and doing ME…
Let go of insecurities and fear….

That last one is a huge one for me. As confident as I may appear( I am usually pretty confident), at times I battle with bouts of insecurity and fear ( as I’m sure many of you have). But with God’s help, I’m leaving all that behind in 2015!

The last song I want to leave with you as the year comes to a close is “Imagine Me” by Kirk Franklin. The lyrics are as follows:

Imagine me
Loving what I see when the mirror looks at me ’cause I
I imagine me
In a place of no insecurities
And I’m finally happy ’cause
I imagine meLetting go of all of the ones who hurt me
‘Cause they never did deserve me
Can you imagine me?
Saying “No” to thoughts that try to control me
Remembering all you told me
Lord, can you imagine me?

Over what my mama said
And healed from what my daddy did and
I wanna live and not read that page again

[Chorus:]
Imagine me being free, trusting you totally
Finally I can…
Imagine me
I admit it was hard to see
You being in love with someone like me
Finally I can…
Imagine me

(Imagine me) being strong
And not letting people break me down
You won’t get that joy this time around (No no)
Can you imagine me?
In a world (in a world) where nobody has to live afraid
Because of your love fear’s gone away
Can you imagine me?

[Bridge:]
Letting go of my past
And glad I have another chance
And my heart will dance
‘Cause I don’t have to read that page again

[Chorus 2x]
(Imagine me)
Imagine me, me being free, trusting you totally
Finally I can…
Imagine me
(I admit Jesus) I admit it was hard to see
You being in love with someone like me (like me)
Finally I can…
Imagine me

(I imagine me)
Imagine me (being free) being free, trusting you totally (totally)
Finally I can…
Imagine me
(I’ll be honest with you)
I admit it was hard to see (it was hard)
You being in love with someone like me (yeah)
But finally I can…
Imagine me

[Spoken:]
This song is dedicated to people like me.
Those that struggle with insecurities, acceptance and even self-esteem.
You’ve never felt good enough, you’ve never felt pretty enough
But imagine God whispering in your ear letting you know that everything that has happened is now…

…gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(It’s all gone, every sin)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(Every mistake, every failure, it’s all gone)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(Depression, gone, by faith, it’s gone)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(Low self-esteem, Hallelujah, it’s gone, it’s all gone)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(It’s gone, all my scars, all my pain)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(It’s in the past, it’s yesterday, it’s all gone, ah)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(I can’t believe it’s gone)
(Gone, what your mother did, what your father did, Hallelujah)
Gone, gone, it’s gone, all gone
(It’s gone)

Sometimes its hard to believe that a great God like the one I serve, would find me worthy enough to take care of. But I’m still here on this earth, so He must have a plan and purpose for me!
So here’s to 2016 and “being free and trusting Him totally!” Imagine me!!
I pray your 2016 is the best year yet!!
Happy Monday!!!
xoxo
