So yesterday, I had the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of one of my homegirls. We went out to eat at this really nice, hipster restaurant in the downtown core of my city. We had plans to go down by the water and get some ice cream and hang out after dinner, so I wanted an outfit that was chic yet functional!
Here’s what I wore:
I purchased these jeans from Old Navy a few years back. They are from the Rockstar line. These are absolutely my favourite jeans because they are so comfortable. They are high-waisted which is perfect for us ladies with a smaller waistline but thicker thighs and posterior! (lol)
This “top” was actually a dress! I purchased this from H&M years ago but never had the opportunity to wear it because the dress insert underneath the lace was way too short for my comfort level. So I macgyvered a top out of it by simply cutting the dress out and placing a plain black spaghetti strap tank top underneath instead. I really liked the detail in the patterning of the lace which is why I didn’t want to get rid of it!
Honestly, I love high heels, but these low block heels are honestly my favourite shoes in all the earth (lol) I know I’m being dramatic but these little heels are the most comfortable shoes I have ever purchased. I purchased them from Rainbow for only $12.99! Best money I have ever spent! I wear these heels with everything.
My jewellery was the same old things! My nameplate necklace, my Gold chain with cross and baby ring on it, my Pandora bracelet and a pair of gold hoops! ( so basic I know lol)
It’s super hot where I live right now ( FINALLY) but that usually means I wear minimal makeup during the summer season.
Here’s what I wore on my face:
Face: Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation+Concealer in the shade ” Truffle” Set my face with Ben Nye Powder in the shade ” Cocoa”
Lips: MAC Retro Matee Liquid Lipstick in the Shade “Oh Lady”
Eyes: Maybelline Lash Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner and Maybelline Colossal Mascara.
That’s all for today folks!
Till next time!
Hey y’all quick post today as I am feeling a little under the weather. Here’s what I wore today to church today , to celebrate Christmas Sunday!
Silver Sequin Midi Skirt: Dynamite Clothing. This skirt retailer for $44.95. While it is a little on the pricey side, it is of good quality material. Let’s call it an early Christmas gift to myself ☺️
Black Sheer Top With Bead Detailing: Forever 21 . I found this top on the sale rack for only $13.00! Such a classy piece that can be worn a number of different ways.
I paired this outfit with a simple pair of black ankle booties that I purchased last year at Old Navy.
To finish off this look I used some red lipstick ( Mary Jo K by Kylie Cosmetics) to add a special Christmas touch!
Til next time,
Quick style post today. Just wanted to quickly share this fall outfit I threw together today. It is COLD here where I live and I needed an outfit that was functional, warm and comfortable as I needed to wear it to church and to an event today.
Let’s start with the pants. I found them at Forever 21 ( surprise surprise lol) These pants are a polyester blend, high waisted pant. Extremely comfortable and warm. These pants were a little on the pricey side for me ( y’all know I’m a bargain shopper) at $24.90 but I do believe these will be a staple piece in my fall wardrobe so I’m sure I’ll get my money’s worth! 🙂
I paired the pants with a white cold shoulder blouse that I believe I purchased at a store called Sirens a year or so ago. I can’t remember what the retail price was but I do believe it was between $10-$15 dollars.
To finish off the look, I added a Burgundy felt hat and camel colour tie -up mule shoes, both from Aldo Shoes.
To keep me warm, I wore my dark camel coloured double breasted pea coat. I purchased this coat from H&M and it retails for $69.99. This is one item I didn’t mind spending a little more on as it is an everyday piece.
I kept my makeup simple nude lips( Kat Von D “Sanctuary”), Naked Heat Palette (shades “Ember” “Scorched” and “Low Blow”) on my eyes with my Fenty Beauty black eyeliner. (Flyliner) I set my face with Ben Nye Powder in the shade “Chestnut” and that’s it!
I’m liking the 70’s inspired pieces that are coming out this season! I must admit I wasn’t feeling it at first, but once I took some time to put some pieces together, I’m finally feeling a vibe! Looking forward to sharing some more pieces with you in the coming weeks!
What is your fall style leaning towards this year? I think I’m gonna be hobo chic 🙂
Till next time…
Quick post today! I meant to post this outfit last week, but the Steelers were playing the Jaguars and after a very intense game, I was just pooped! ( LOL shout out to my amazing server at Shoeless Joes who caught the brunt of my animated football watching and got a tray full of drinks spilled on her… hangs head in shame LOL)
Anyway, the women’s ministry at my church had requested that we all wear white. Now, I work in children’s ministry, so all white is typically not an option and in general white is not a colour I gravitate to. So on the hunt I went. One piece I found in my closet and one I had to purchase.
First, let me confess… I wore off white, closer to champagne because stark white is not really my thing!
So earlier in the summer, I had a few “All white attire ” events to attend , I went on boohoo.com to search for a dress or skirt to wear and I found one but it was too dressy. Luckily it came in handy for this outfit.
The skirt is a white tulle, mid length skirt. It has an elastic waist that allows for ultimate comfort. This skirt is so comfortable. It was constructed for a taller person (5’7 and taller) which I am not but it still worked for me. I just wore it high waisted 🙂 This skirt currently retails for $34.00 Canadian.
Find it here:
I found a bodysuit at Forever 21 that matched almost perfectly! Pretty basic long sleeve off white bodysuit with some minor gold details through it! find it here
I paired this outfit with beige lace up mules, and a silver and crystal statement necklace. My makeup with simple with a nude lip ( Sanctuary by Kat Von D) and black eyeliner ( I know super basic, but hey it worked)
Thats it guys! Have an awesome week and remember ,
So… my style aesthetic has kind of been all over the place this summer. But,I think I have narrowed it down to the one thing I am looking for in an outfit which is…. COMFORT!I have really been drawn to shift dresses, bold patterns and classic streamlined pieces. This post is about the most comfortable shift dress to ever exist!
I was perusing the shelves at my local Old Navy and right at the front, there was a rack with some shift dresses. Now, being a girl with some curves, a shift dress is not usually something I would usually gravitate towards. But this particular one caught my eye!
It was an off the shoulder, vertically striped, blue and white ( which is a colour scheme I am really loving right now) dress which was a cotton blend. So it was super soft to the touch! I put on my brave face and went into the change room and tried it on… and never wanted to take it off! It was extremely comfortable and surprisingly figure flattering! The dress also has three quarter length sleeves with tie up detailing which I thought was really cute!
The dress is super casual, but what is nice about the dress is that your can dress it up if you needed too!
The dress currently retails for $25.97 on the Old Navy website and I do believe you can still find it in stores.
This time I chose to keep it casual and here’s how I styled it:
I simply paired it with my cross/ baby ring necklace ( that I never take off lol) a super big pair of hoop earrings and some super ancient gold tie up sandals! I kept the makeup simple with some concealer, setting powder, eyeliner and a new lip colour I’m trying out from MAC called ” Oh, Lady” from the retro matte liquid lip colour line.
So that’s it folks! Thanks for sticking with mw through this long hiatus! Love you all and remember…
I know I’ve been MIA for a while but I’ll be back to regularly scheduled blogging very soon! So here’s a super quick post to tide you over till then!
Forever 21 had a sale going on that was 50 percent off the lowest ticketed price! I was in sale heaven! ( If you know me, you know I love a good sale! I swear bargain shopping is therapeutic for me!) It was during this time that I spotted a beautiful olive green jacket on the rack!
This jacket is a double breasted satin jacket, with gold button detailing . The jacket is very fitted and reaches me at about mid thigh. It has a pocket on each side and gold button detailing on each arm.
What I love about this jacket is that you could dress it up ( like I did today) or even throw on a pair of distressed jeans and a white camisole and voila another outfit is made!
This jacket retails for $33.99 ( Canadian) and I was able to pick it up for $16.50!
I paired this jacket with a black pencil skirt and a black body suit, both also purchased at Forever 21 ( seriously this place needs to sponsor me 🙂 )
Lastly I added a pair of olive green booties that I purchased from Old Navy. I had wanted to own these boots since Christmas , but I couldn’t bring myself to spend 50 dollars on them. I mean they are super cute, but definitely worth 50 dollars to me! So imagine my surprise, when I walked into Old Navy a few weeks back and said shoes were on sale for $19.99! I wasted no time throwing these into my basket and away I went!
I kept my makeup basic: Makeup Forever Velvet Mat Foundation , Naked 1 Palette , Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner in onyx and Colourpop “LAX” on my lips!
I threw my favourite velvet choker with a gold cross on and a gold watch and there you have it!
Have a beautiful Sunday and remember….
I’m back again with a quick Style Sunday post. This one features an absolutely stunning mustard yellow body suit that I purchased from…. say it with me long time readers…. Forever 21! ( They really should sponsor me lol…. Forever 21 if you’re listening , I’m ready 🙂 )
I really love this colour, especially against my deep skin tone. It’s such a rich warm colour that is just perfect for fall!
This keyhole cut out body suit is made from a blend of rayon and spandex which makes it super comfortable and lightweight. This body suit can be worn in many different ways. It can be dressed up ( like I wore it today) or can even be worn with jeans and flats for a more casual approach. This body suit retails for $20.90 Canadian. If your interested, you can purchase it here
Today , I chose to pair this body suit with a black pencil skirt and some nude pumps. These pumps I purchased from Aldo and honestly guys, these are actually the most comfortable pair of shoes I have purchased in a very long time. I especially like the lace up details of the shoe as well as the suede material, and the 4″ heel is just right for me. Run out and get you a pair, you won’t be disappointed !
I curled my hair with Flexi-Rods ( bendy rollers, curling rods..) for a little more glam look than my everyday loose waves. I used a mix of the purple, blue and skinny orange ones to achieve this look. I felt like glamming up my face a little bit today so I did! I especially love this “new” MAC lipstick I purchased called “Antique Velvet” . It is very similar to one of my favorite Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks ,Vampira.
Have a wonderful and stylish week! Check back in tomorrow for Monday Motivation 🙂
I had a super busy weekend and I am beat( like I just woke up from a “nap”) hence the lateness of this post! I just wanted to jump on here really quick to share an outfit I wore to a birthday dinner ( Happy birthday Kacy! xo)
I literally walked into Forever 21 to pick up a pair of knee high socks and as I was walking in, this little dress caught my eye! I’m all about comfort this season, less layering, basic one piece outfits!
The dress is in the colour “Aubergine” which is just a fancy way of saying eggplant aka purple! Purple is my number one favorite colour so any opportunity to add purple to my wardrobe, i’ll take it! I especially love the shoulder cut-out details on this piece.
This dress retails for $24.90. You can purchase it here ( click link)
I paired mine with some simple black booties from Payless. Comfort was key as I had to do a bit of walking from where we parked to the actual restaurant. ( the joys of dining in downtown Toronto… lol) I added a gold statement necklace from Aldo Accessories. My makeup was simple but I had to add a bold lip ( Stila’s “Chianti”) and a little glow from my Becca x Jaclyn Hill glow palette ( guys… this palette is BAE)
The food was good ( will do a post on it soon) at the Cactus Club Cafe. The vibe was good and the company even better!
I think aubergine is going to be a staple colour in my wardrobe this season? What about you guys? What will you be wearing?
Have a stylish week!
Back again with another edition of Style Sunday! For a girl like me who doesn’t particularly love flowers, a lot of my style choices of late have had a floral influences!
As I was browsing the racks at my “happy place” ( AKA Forever 21) I saw a beautiful piece just peeking through the rack at me. It was the last one and lo and behold it was in my size! (It’s kismet no? 😛 ) Also, what made my day was the fact that it was on sale 50 percent off!!!!! ( I am obsessed with sale shopping!)
Let me show you this gorgeous dress and how I styled it!
The dress is from the Forever 21 Contemporary collection. It is a chiffon dress with a drawstring waist, cuffs and a v-neck neckline. I was heading to church so I added a black camisole underneath to contain my cleavage!(lol) This dress is in a floral pattern with mostly green undertones. I’m really getting into wearing green! For the last few seasons, green has made its way into my wardrobe. It’s a colour I have usually shied away from, but it’s really grown on me! The dress itself is pretty busy, so I wanted to keep the accompanying pieces simple. I added a basic pair of gold hoops, a gold statement necklace from Aldo Accessories and some simple gold gladiator sandals! I see a trend here! Floral and gold…. I can dig it! 😛
Here’s where you can purchase these items ( or pieces similar)
Dress: (click here) Forever 21
Gold hoops: (click here) Forever 21
Necklace: (click here) similar one from Aldo Accessories
Shoes: (click here) the Rocawear ones are over 10 years old so these are similar ones!
Have a fabulously stylish week and remember…
I love jeans. I am the quintessential representation of a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal! Don’t get me wrong, I love a good opportunity to dress up and get all glitzy and glammed up, but give me a pair of jeans any day and I’ll make do! ( perhaps I’ll do a jeans style series… hmm : ) )
What I love about denim is that you can dress it up or dress it down.I’ll show you how I paired my favourite pair of jeans with a cool graphic tank!
Let’s start with the jeans. My favourite pair hails from Old Navy in the Curvy Skinny Jean style. They retail for $39.50 but usually are on sale! I have multiple pairs of these jeans because they are so comfortable for my curvier bottom half 😛 )
Next I added a distressed graphic tank I purchased years ago from Forever 21. I believe that I purchased this for about $15.00.
Since this is an old and I purchased this years ago its no longer available on the Forever 21 website, but I was able to find one with the same slogan that you can purchase here for $19.99!
To finish off this outfit I added a simple pair of black mesh flats and some accessories. My gold cross and baby ring that I practically wear everyday, as well as a black velvet choker with a gold cross pendant from Aldo. I also added some rope twist faux gold bracelets! (I honestly don’t remember where I got them!) I threw on my fav gold hoop earrings and then I was ready to go!!
I did my makeup the same way I do it pretty much the way I do it anytime I wear make-up (lol) perhaps I’ll do an everyday make-up look soon 😛
The final look:
