Monday Motivation: For Your Glory…

Hey y’all!

I hope this Monday finds you in good health and in good spirits. I just wanted to stop by and drop a quick blog for you today.

This morning as I was reading my friend  ( and fellow blogger) Rishae’s post( y’all go show her page some love here), I began to ponder some things. As I began to prepare for my day, the thought came to me , “For whose glory are you doing things for?”. In Rishae’s post she mentions that she used to be a people pleaser,  Well I too am in recovery for being a people pleaser. I used to ( and still do ) at times have trouble saying no to things and people.  I never wanted people to feel like I let them down, Even if I really didn’t feel like doing it… I did it and unfortunately, that attitude or practice carried over into the church ministry aspect of my life.

At my church I am involved in Worship Ministry, Sunday School Ministry and  Children’s Ministry , and have been for a long time. All are very taxing ministries in their own right. I remember many a night spent in preparation hoping and praying that the people would be pleased in the job “I” did. If I didn’t get a good reaction for my efforts, I would beat myself up about it and go back to the drawing board to see what I could do to get them next time. However, anybody who really knows me well, knows I absolutely HATE attention and really don’t want to be publicly acknowledged for anything! ( For example, on my 30th birthday( which fell on a Sunday) my pastor gave me a big shout out and I cried not because I was overwhelmed, but because I was embarrassed and didn’t want everybody to be looking at me. 😛 ) I’d much rather be hidden in a corner.

But as I matured in my faith,I began to realize that it’s not the opinion or praise of other people  that really matter to me. Everything that I do, is for Gods glory. He gets all the praise! Once you take yourself( ego and pride) out of the equation, it becomes much easier to serve willingly. I now ask myself this question, ” Is God pleased with what I’m doing?” If the answer is yes, I’m okay with that!  Not that I don’t value the opinion of others, I just don’t base my actions solely on their reaction.

The ending part of 1 Corinthians 10:31 New Living Translation (NLT) sums it all up for me:

31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Whatever you are doing, make sure God gets all the glory! You may not be rewarded for your work here on earth, but in heaven the reward will surpass your wildest dreams!

Tasha Cobbs has a song I have been listening to all day coincidentally entitled, “For Your Glory”. The lyrics are as follows and take a listen down below:

Lord if I
Find favor in Your sight
Lord please
Hear my hearts cry

I’m desperately waiting
To be where You are.
I’ll cross the hottest desert
I’ll travel near or far

For Your glory
I will do anything
Just to see You
To behold You as my King

I wanna be where You are
Gotta be where You are
I wanna be where You are
Gotta be where You are

I wanna be where You are
Peace is where You are
Joy is where You are
And Love is who You are

Have a blessed Monday!!

xoxo
