Wednesday Weekly Reads: March 11, 2015

Hey everyone!

Welcome to this edition of Wednesday Weekly Reads. This week was a mediocre reading week. I managed to finish ,” The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins. I have to say it was a good read, but it in no way holds a candle to the cult classic ” Gone Girl” that everyone has been comparing it to. At most, I’d give it a 3.5 stars out of 5. It was good but it was not by any means amazing! (Sorry if I’m stepping on any literary toes :P)

3.5 stars out of 5- certainly no "Gone Girl"

I also managed to get 90% through the e- book “The Playboy’s Fugitive Bride” by Ana E. Ross. I must admit, this book started out real slow, yet picked up quickly and became quite a quick and steamy read( think 50 shades of Grey minus the chains and whips lol)So far, I’d give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. This book however is not my favorite installment in “The Billionaire Brides of Granite Falls”series though. It took a long time to get to the point, and it was pretty predictable! However, I do hope to finish the rest of this on my lunch hour at work tomorrow!

4 out of 5 stars! Not my favorite in the series though...

I did have the opportunity to begin, “The Pearl Who Broke It’s Shell” by Nadia Hashimi. This book is quite long and because I finished the other items on my list, I only managed to get 40 pages into this book. But what I’ve read, I’m absolutely loving it. (see the plot line in my 2015 TBR). This is book is pretty long ( 452 pages) so I’m putting this book back on my list for this week to hopefully complete. Also because this book is so long and its content is pretty heavy, I am only adding one other book to reading goal this week. I am adding the novel, “Jesus Is” by Judah Smith. Goodreads describes this book as follows:

In these pages, Judah Smith fills out that sentence again and again, each time further revealing the character of Jesus. He writes as if to a friend, illustrating the importance of Christ’s message to modern men and women. This is a book for new believers, for lifelong followers, and for the merely curious. Judah Smith shows us the Jesus that somber paintings and hymns fail to capture. With passion, humor, and conviction, he shows that Jesus is life. Jesus is grace. Jesus is your friend. Jesus is a new and better way to be human (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15869598-jesus-is)

justin-bieber
Justin Bieber, Russell Wilson, Pastor Judah Smith and his 3 children.

This is a book I started over a year ago and got distracted and put down (shame shame I know..) But I am ever so excited to pick it up again and dive right in. ( p.s Judah Smith alongside is wife are the lead pastors for the City Church in Seattle, Washington. He has mentored people like NFL star Russell Wilson and Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.

Judah Smith also has new book ( released on March 3, 2015) entitled “Life Is…” I’m excited to pick that up and hopefully put that on my TBR for the upcoming weeks.I’m also going to catch up on a few magazines I have lying around this house and continuing with my Lent devotional 🙂 IMG_5695 (1)

Well those are my reading goals for this week! Happy reading!!
