Sunday Style: The One With The Black Jumpsuit…

Hey y’all!

Follow me on this tale of a girl who had an event to go to, yet had absolutely nothing to wear! The girl is me and this was my dilemma yesterday…

Sigh,,, so I’ve known about this event I had to go to for weeks now, yet hadn’t bothered to look for anything to wear. So Saturday afternoon, approximately about 5 hours before the event was to start ¬†( Thank goodness we were on Caribbean/African time, so 5 hours was really 8 ūüôā ) I found myself in the mall with my homegirl ( who was also attending the event) SCRAMBLING!!!¬†Guys, we went into 3 or 4 or 5 or 10 stores, with NO SUCCESS! I was literally about to give up and pull out a repeat outfit ( ugh the horror! just kidding ) when I sauntered in to one final store and.. there it was … the black jumpsuit.

First of all, I didn’t even see this jumpsuit. I saw another olive green one that was so gorgeous, just not the colour scheme I wanted for the evening. I was literally about to give up for real, when my little sis ( shout out to you Shanice) found this little gem and brought it back for me to try on.

The jumpsuit is made of a thick polyester material. It boasts a tapered leg and a v-neck scrappy detailing that is to die for! Here’s how I styled it and purchasing details!

The jumpsuit itself was so cute that I didn’t want to add too much to it jewellery wise. I simply added a silver and crystal beaded necklace. I also added a silver cuff bangle. Both were gifted to me so I’m not sure where they came from.

The black jumpsuit is from a store called Dynamite. It retails for $59.95 ( Canadian Currency) Purchase here

The black cropped blazer jacket was a Target find about 3 years ago when Target made its failed Canadian expansion ūüė¶ ¬†On the bright side, I managed to pick that little gem up for… wait for it… $5.00 measly Canadian dollars ! ūüôā ūüôā

The shoes are my all time favourite shoes, black faux suede ballerina heels from Aldo years ago. These shoes are actually so comfortable. I wore them all night and even did a two step in them with no aching feet at the end of the night.

I threw on a Bauhau5 ( Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick) on my lips along with a plethora of other things on my face ( let me know if you want to know details ) and out the door I went!

I guess waiting till the last minute worked out for me this time!
Have an amazingly stylish week and remember…

Style Sunday: Black and Beige…

Style Sunday: Black and Beige…

Hey guys!

Really quick post today!

Forgive me for going missing! I have been battling some health issues ( flu then bronchitis and throat infection and ear infection) This winter season has been really kicking my butt so I haven’t been wearing much more than sweatpants and hoodies for the ¬†past two weeks! So today, I still wanted to keep my outfit pretty simple ( well simple on my terms anyway lol) ¬†Here’s what I wore :

Black Pencil Skirt: I purchased this at Forever 21 a long time ago. Simple slip on skirt, with some ribbed detailing.
Black Long Sleeve Shirt: Cotton shirt I’m pretty sure I purchased at WalMart! I just needed a long sleeve black top to go underneath another piece I was wearing.
Beige Vest: Long, beige cape style vest made up of a soft polyester blend material. This was purchased last year at a store called Sirens!

Shoes: Beige suede stiletto lace up mule that I purchased at Aldo back in the fall.
Jewellery : Nothing but my trusty old cross/baby ring!

Make-up was kept super simple with just some eyeliner ( Maybelline Unstoppable in “Onyx”) a light dusting of shadow ( Tartelette in Bloom Palette ) Mascara ( Maybelline Push Up Drama ¬†In “Blackest Black” ) Foundation ( Nars in the shade” Benares”) ¬†and to finish the look off Stila liquid lipstick in the shade “Amore” ( which is like my new fav by the way! ). ¬†No contouring, No highlight nothing fancy ( I frankly didn’t have the energy)

So that’s it for today folks! Hopefully I’ll be back to full capacity soon… and remember….

Style Sunday: Black and White Casual Outfit

Style Sunday: Black and White Casual Outfit

Hey guys!

Welcome to 2017’s first edition of “Style Sunday”. ¬†Today is a super chill day so I just wanted to share with you a quick everyday ¬†casual outfit. It seems as of late I have been gravitating towards really simple pieces in my wardrobe. Solid colours like black, white, grey and olive green ( and mustard yellow) have been the colours in my wardrobe palette as well as stripes and polka dots. I’ve also really begun to enjoy wearing running shoes ( tennis shoes, sneakers or trainers for my US and UK readers :p) so through the magic of Christmas , I have built a nice little selection!

So let’s begin! First I started off with a nice and shiny pair of black leggings from Garage Clothing. These ¬†retail for $24.95 Canadian but I HAVE NEVER paid that much! I always seem to go into Garage when there is a 50% off sale. ¬†These are the perfect leggings that are casual but still give you the option to dress them up if you wanted to.

Next, I added ¬†a black and white v-neck long sleeved cotton shirt that I purchased at Old Navy on Boxing Day for 6 dollars! I am kicking myself that I didn’t buy the other colours as they are no longer in stores and not on the website!! Ah well you win some you lose some! ¬†Old Navy has a similar one now on sale that retails for 15 dollars.

On my feet I wore a simple pair of black knee high boots that I purchased from Aldo shoes during their 40% off sale.  Super warm  and great for everyday wear.

Last, I threw on a gold bar necklace that had some cute chain detailing, some red lips and eyeliner and I was ready to go! Last piece that I added was my cute backpack from Forever 21 (you know I couldn’t let a post go by without Forever 21 sneaking in there lol)

So that’s it folks! I look forward to sharing more fashion content with you this year!Have a stylishly wonderful week!

Happy New Year from me to you!!

Style Sunday: Fall Sunday Outfit…

Style Sunday: Fall Sunday Outfit…

Hey guys!

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. ! I had the flu and then I ¬†also had some technical difficulties… but I’m back!!!

This weekend the USA celebrated Thanksgiving ( happy belated Thanksgiving to my American readers) and after Thanksgiving comes the shopping frenzy that is Black Friday! Canada( where I live) in recent years have jumped on the Black Friday  marketing madness and have brought some of those knock out sales to our stores! So naturally I hopped on the chance to shop quality items at Sophie approved prices AKA sale!

So bright and early before work, I ran to my closest shopping centre to peruse the stores and see if I could find anything I needed/wanted and to get a few Christmas presents out of the way. I found magnificent deals at Old Navy, Aldo and H&M and of course my holy grail store ( say it with me long ¬†time readers…) Forever ¬†21!

The item I am featuring today is from Forever 21. I was in the store a few days prior and a camel coloured bodycon dress caught my eye; check it out here: This dress retails for $22.90 (Canadian) but because of Black Friday sales  I was able to purchase it for 21% off! (YAY ME!! )

I really liked It because it was super simple but to make it a little fancy, it had a really nice side slit. ¬†I paired this dress with a chunky black necklace given to me as a gift and some three inch black booties purchased years ago at Payless shoes ( I’ve mentioned them a million times on here) To finish the look off I added chunky round ring purchased at the Slauson swap meet in LA a long time ago and a black and gold studded bracelet.

I beat my face with a little help from Sephora ūüėõ and away I went!

I hope you guys I have an amazingly fashionable week and remember…

Style Sunday: Girls Night Out…

Style Sunday: Girls Night Out…

Hey guys!

Quick post today! This weekend I had a weekend I had an opportunity to get together with some of my gal pals! We all met up in the downtown Toronto area, as it is the most central location for all of us. ¬†We were going to be taking transit because it’s so much easier to navigate the downtown core on the subway or a street car than it is to try and find ( and pay for) parking! So I needed an outfit that was super cute and super comfortable!

Here’s what I wore:

Black Tights: My absolute favourite tights from Garage Clothing. Very comfy and the shiny material makes them a little dressier than your average black tight.

Mustard Yellow Top: Purple is my favourite colour but yellow is my favourite colour to wear! I found a mustard yellow  top with black pinstripes on sale at Old Navy for like 8 dollars I think!  3 quarter length sleeves and and a scoop neck make this a super casual yet trendy top.

Pins: The top I wore was very simple so to jazz it up a bit I ¬†added some ¬†pin patches. Pin patches were the in thing in the early 90’s when I was a little kid ( 5-6 or so) and I remember having a sweet denim jacket with tons of patches on it. So imagine my elation to see that this trend has made its way back around! Lots of stores have them and they are actually adult appropriate! I purchased the ones I was wearing from Aldo Accessories. Super cute and easy remedy to spice up ¬†a plain(ish) top.

Similar to these ones…

Necklace:  I had to throw on my favourite choker from Aldo Accessories. Black velvet with a tiny gold cross pendant.

Shoes:  I threw on my trusted little tiger striped booties from an Aldo Outlet store many years ago. They are so comfortable which was perfect for the walking we did!

So that’s it folks! Have an amazingly stylish week and remember….

Style Sunday: The One With The Faux Fur Jacket…

Style Sunday: The One With The Faux Fur Jacket…

Hey y’all!

I’m back again with another edition of “Style Sunday”. This week ¬†centres around a faux fur jacket that I purchased from Forever 21 ( seriously this place needs to sponsor me ¬†ūüôā ) many years ago. I found this little gem on the sale rack, in just the right size ūüôā so of course I scooped it up!

I love this jacket! I really enjoy the camel and chocolate brown colour combination because it reminds me of leopard print which I absolutely ADORE!

img_3082I purchased this jacket before it was “on trend”. I’m glad I kept it and didn’t get rid of it because clearly everything that is old becomes new again! ¬†I really like that it is a bomber style jacket . It is satin lined so it is really soft and comfortable to wear. It’s definitely a jacket that you wear for fashion and not to actually keep you warm… well at least where I live (lol I live in Ontario, Canada where this wouldn’t keep you warm in our frigid winter months ) ¬†Like I said this jacket was purchased years ago ¬†so it’s unavailable to purchase anymore ¬†but since faux fur is on trend right now Forever 21 has quite a few current options for you to choose from if you’re interested. I really wasn’t in the mood today to wear a skirt or a dress to church so I pulled out ¬†another oldie but goodie from my closet- an olive green jumpsuit coincidentally also from Forever 21. This jumpsuit is made of rayon material which makes it super lightweight and comfortable to wear. It has side pockets as well as two front pockets on the top. It also has a draw string waist. This isn’t available for purchase anymore but here is something very similar also from Forever 21.

Contemporary Belted Button-Front Jumpsuit

I finished the look off with some nude sling black  tie up pumps from Call It Spring. I wore no jewellery today with the exception of my everyday gold chain and studs and kept my makeup relatively basic ( eyeliner, concealer, setting powder, mascara, LAX liquid lipstick from Colourpop Cosmetics.)

So that’s it folks! That’s it for this week! Have a great week and remember…

Style Sunday: Flowers and Gold…

Style Sunday: Flowers and Gold…

Hey y’all!

Back again with another edition of Style Sunday! For a girl like me who doesn’t particularly love flowers, a lot of my style choices of late have had a floral influences!

As I was browsing the racks at my “happy place” ( AKA Forever 21) I saw a beautiful piece just peeking through the rack at me. It was the last one and lo and behold it was in my size! ¬†(It’s kismet no? ūüėõ ) Also, what made my day was the fact that it was on sale 50 percent off!!!!! ( I am obsessed with sale shopping!)

Let me show you this gorgeous dress and how I styled it!

IMG_2331The dress is from the Forever 21 Contemporary collection. It is a chiffon dress with a drawstring waist, cuffs and a v-neck neckline. I was heading to church so I added a black camisole underneath to contain my cleavage!(lol) This dress is in a floral pattern with mostly green undertones. I’m really getting into wearing green! For the last few seasons, green has made its way into my wardrobe. It’s a colour I have usually shied away from, but it’s really grown on me! The dress itself is pretty busy, so I wanted to keep the accompanying pieces simple. I added a basic¬†pair of gold hoops, ¬†a gold statement necklace from Aldo Accessories and some simple gold gladiator sandals! I see a trend here! Floral and gold…. I can dig it! ūüėõ

Here’s where you can purchase these items ( or pieces similar)

Necklace: (click here)  similar one from Aldo Accessories

Style Sunday: Sunday Morning Swag…

Style Sunday: Sunday Morning Swag…

Hey guys!

Back at it again with a quick style post. I have been really loving flower crowns the past few years but especially this summer! It seems that I have been creating all my fashion choices around which flower crown I want to wear! I have purchased a couple but the majority of them I have made myself! Check out how on my DIY post here.

So this weeks outfit was based around my red rose flower crown.  Here are my outfit details!

Red skirt: From my favorite store Forever 21 of course! I purchased this skirt a few years back. It is a high waist A-line skirt, made from a thicker polyester material and spandex. It originally retailed for $21.90 ( canadian dollars) This item is no longer available in stores or online as it was purchased some time ago, but on the Forever 21 website there is a very similar skirt on there right now for only $14.99!

Black Top: Just a basic black tee! This one was from Bluenotes, but you can grab a black tee just about anywhere!  This one from Forever 21 is only $3.90!

Red Shoes:  Oldies but goodies from Aldo Shoes. When I mean old, I mean like ten years ago lol! Love them and just can get rid of them!

Of course I finished this outfit off with my handmade flower crown and some gold accessories! Necklace from Aldo Accessories, Bracelet from Guess Accessories and gold hoops from eons ago so I can’t remember!
