…and if the devil could kill me, he would’ve done it by now…. I’m still here….

Hey my loves!

As we draw to the end of the year, the lyric quoted above from the Travis Greene song “Still Here”  is on repeat in my head. Today is the last day of the year… and what a year it has been, I’ve not been shy about saying 2017 was probably one of the worst years of life for me to date.  Personal struggles , struggles with my health, ailing parents etc……It was a tough one. However , the mere fact that I am still alive at the end of it to reflect is a blessing in itself. Even though 2017 had it’s challenges, I’m still grateful for it. Many didn’t make this far, so for that I’ll give thanks.

Now, lots of people spend their last day thinking of resolutions that they can try to carry out for the following year. This year I decided to switch it up a bit and share with you a list of things I’m NOT going to do this year:

This year I’m not going to procrastinate and put off things that need to be done. ( ie: finish that book Soph)

This year I’m not going to let the opinions of others, determine my worth of value.

This year I’m not going to give time or energy to anybody who doesn’t give time or energy to me. Quality relationships over quantity,

This year I’m not going to let anxiety and emotions rule me.

This year I’m not going to frown as much.

This year in not going to allow the devil to steal my joy!

This year I’m not going to allow people to bring me back to the old me or allow anger to rule my actions.

This year I’m not going to be afraid to simply say NO.

This year I’m not going to let anything or anyone get in the way of my relationship with God.

If I were to make a New Years resolution , it would look like this :

This year my opinions of myself matters the most. I’m going to spend time loving on my loved ones and cherished friends. I’m going to take control ( with God’s help) of my anxiety. I’m going to smile a lot! I’m going to live a life of joy. Anger will not control me. I will say NO when I need to and I will get even closer to God this year! 🙂  

There you have folks! Even if your 2017 was hard, I challenge you to look towards 2018 with optimism.  The mere fact that you’re still here, means that your assignment here on earth is not yet complete. I challenge you to find your purpose and run with it!

PS: What I’m also not going to do is take these LOOOOONNNNNG blogging breaks! Back to regularly scheduled posts for 2018!! ( Pray for me y’all lol)
