Hey y’all!

Well winter has returned with a vengeance where I live, so much so that my workplace is closed for the day! ( Woohoo for Snow Days!)

With winter for me, comes extremely chapped lips! I have always sworn by my DIY Brown Sugar and Honey Lip Scrub, but being the product junkie that I am, I wanted to try out the Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub and The Agave Lip Mask.

Let’s start with the Agave Sugar Lip Scrub: 
What is it:  A gentle lip scrub designed to exfoliate and moisturize  the lips. It is main ingredients are brown sugar (raw) and agave sugar.  It also has some exotic oils that support the moisturizing effects.

This product retails for $20.00 ( Canadian) and is sold in Sephora stores and on sephora.com. The packaging is basic yet cute!  Do you want my honest opinion on this product? Save your money and make it yourself!! Not saying that it’s a bad product (because it’s not), but is it worth twenty of your hard earned dollars? No!

Here’s my recipe for my go to DIY lip scrub!

2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar ( $0.99/lb at my local Bulk Barn)
1 Tablespoon  Liquid  Honey  (  I use the Natural Honey Farms brand that retails for approximately $7.00 at my local grocery stores) 

How to make/use it:  Add the sugar into a dish and slowly add the honey and mix together until it is a thick and tacky  paste like consistency . Spread the paste on your lips and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Then using a wash cloth, in circular motions rub the paste off of your lips1 Voila you’re done! ( I always like to moisturize with vaseline afterwards)

So there you have it! For less than half the price, you can make basically the same product on your own at home! However, it DIY isn’t your thing, you could check the Bite Beauty product out! I for sure will not be repurchasing 🙂

Next up, the Agave Lip Mask: 
What is it: A leave on lip mask that is formulated to return moisture to the lips. Using various oils in addition to the agave honey, this products thick consistency helps to hydrate and smooth out the delicate skin of the lips.

This product retails for $30.00 ( Canadian) Thank goodness I had a gift card , cuz thirty dollars for a lip mask??? No ma’am! (l0l) I really like this product though! If you have the means to purchase this , then I would definitely recommend it. I have been using this product daily for about 2  weeks and have already noticed a huge difference in my ashy lips (lol) I find this product works best when put on at night and left to do its thing while you rest! When I wake up in the morning my lips are smooth and when I have to brave the frigid elements outside, my lips stay intact! I even find that my lipstick applies so much smoother after using this product.

Don’t want to spend thirty dollars on one lip product? ( trust me I don’t blame you)  I have found 2 drugstore brand lip products that kind of do the same thing. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm which retails for about 8 dollars or the good old tried tested and true Carmex Classic Lip Balm! That is a holy grail product for sure ! It usually retails for about 7 dollars at my local Walmart!

 

Well that’s it folks! If any of these things don’t work for you, you can always use good old Vaseline ! Vaseline will never let you down ! 🙂
